I am currently staffing a new opportunity in *Reston, VA* for a *Sybase DBA*. Please let me know if you have anyone to match these specifications. This will be a project for 12 months and the interview process will be PHONE followed by an IN-PERSON. Job Description: This DBA will be responsible for out of region data center move initiative with concentration in Sybase database move. This person will participate in planning meetings and work with various teams to develop detail move strategy for Sybase databases, including warm standby and replication servers. Provide technical expertise throughout the life cycle of the project. 4 - 7 years of professional experiences in Sybase administration and Sybase Replication Server. Work experience in both system and application DBA. Experiences in build ASEs, applying patches, setting up replication, administration and troubleshooting of databases. Experiences in failover/failback between data centers. Maintain database operation environment with SOX compliance and adhere to corporate policy. Requires occasional off hour and weekend work. Must Have Skills: -Sybase ASE 12.5 or later. -Sybase Replciation Server 15.0 or later -Hands on experience with Sybase Warm standby and adhoc replication support -Unix scripting -Experience with HA architecture such as Veritas VCS. -Strong communication skills -Strong analytical and problem solving skills -Strong multi-tasking abilities -Be able to work under pressure. -Experience in production support in a complex enterprise environment. -Be able to work off hours and weekends as needed basis. Preferred Skills, but not required -Experiences in moving databases between data centers is a big plus -SQL Server -SDLC -Autosys experience.
