This role is focused on designing data warehouse subject areas and data marts to support enterprise reporting, data interfaces to allow information to be shared by systems, and application databases to support transaction processing. *Responsibilities:* · Guide business analysts in gathering data requirements. Obtain understanding of user data needs to determine appropriate architectural considerations. Evaluate vendor packages against criteria that promote the quality, usability and security of data. · Guide project management on data architecture and data modeling activities. Provide estimates on data architecture and data modeling activities based on the best available information. Validate estimates provided by data architects/modelers. · Translate data requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models that represent the structures needed to implement the data architecture for a solution. Create and execute SQL queries that establish the fitness of structures for their intended data. Conduct formal walkthroughs of data models with business analysts and business users to confirm that models properly represent data requirements. · Generate data structure definition scripts (DDL) from physical data models. Modify DDL to refine physical data structures. Work with database administrators to implement physical data structures from scripts and attend to usability and performance considerations. · Document data structure metadata in an enterprise data dictionary and serve as subject matter expert on data structures for data analysts, developers and testers. Work with testers to identify and populate structures with transaction and reference data needed for test cases. · Leverage the PMLC/SDLC in all aspects of the data lifecycle.
