JOB DESCRIPTION: Act as a lead in providing application design guidance and consultation, utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and prior designs. *Analyze highly complex business requirements, design and write technical specifications to design or redesign complex computer platforms and applications. *Able to drive discussions to clarify vague business or technical requirements. *Able to clearly communicate and articulate risks and concerns with requirements, designs, etc. *Develop programs based on designs, using best practices and efficient coding practices *Able to performance tune programs. *Acts as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis efforts. *Support testing efforts and implementation into production *Develop new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides. *Work with technical team to develop automated solutions and alerting for monitoring applications Minimum Qualifications: - 8+ years of software development experience. - At least 5+ years of Java development experience, primarily in J2EE / server-side programming (Unix - Solaris or Linux) of stand- alone programs and within application server containers (eg, Websphere) - At least 2+ years of web services development and experience in developing in Service Oriented Architecture (XML, SOAP, AXIS) - 4+ years of OOA and design. - 4+ years SQL/JDBC experience (Oracle, DB2) - 4+ years UML experience - 4+ years of JSP experience - 4+ years of XML experience - Demonstrated experience profiling and performance tuning medium to complex enterprise applications. - Demonstrated knowledge and experience of JVM internals and J2EE architecture. - Experience in developing Oracle PL/SQL code - Experience in creating shell scripts - Demonstrated communication skills Preferred Skills: - Sun Certified Java programmer a plus - Prior experience in UNIX shell scripting and command line tools (e.g. egrep, gzip, cat, etc) - Prior experience supporting software and its environment - Demonstrated analytical and reverse engineering experience - Prior work experience in the financial industry - Prior work experience in a product based software development environment - Prior development in one or many of the following tool sets: Java JDK 1.4 / 1.5, J2EE, Eclipse, ClearCase, XMLSpy, SOAP Scope.
