Please send the resumes at r...@cncconsulting.com Job Title: SAN Administrator Location: Harrisburg, PA Duration: 3 Months SAN administrator to perform duties and responsibilities for the PENNDOT Storage Area Network including management of the IBM XIV Storage Subsystem, IBM 3584 Tape Library and Cisco MDS 9513 SAN Switches. This position will perform the following primary duties: Performs administrative duties on the IBM XIV Storage Subsystem as follows: Checks error logs. Configures LUN sizing and LUN security. Determines space remaining in storage subsystem. Monitors space utilization. Notifies appropriate contact and works with technician to resolve any hardware issues. Performs Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) administrative duties and interfaces with the IBM 3584 Tape Library as follows: Checks error logs. Maintain TSM scripts as required. Determines space remaining in library. Ensures offsite tape cartridges are sent offsite. Notifies appropriate contact and works with technician to resolve any hardware issues. Monitors tape utilization. Works with appropriate contact to resolve any issues related to backups. Performs administrative duties on the Cisco MDS 9513 SAN Switches as follows: Checks error logs. Configures zoning to meet security requirements. Notifies appropriate contact and works with technician to resolve any hardware issues. Troubleshoots any connectivity issues. Monitors port usage. Recommends solutions for future growth. Resolves issues with Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) on SAN attached clients. This position will also perform the following secondary duties: Assemble/install hardware Configure servers Install server software/drivers Configure network printers Connect/disconnect devices to the network in Harrisburg and remote office sites Respond to network/server related trouble calls Research and resolve issues with all server software Test and install server software update/upgrades Proactively identify and resolve problems Place service calls for servers and network equipment Assist service providers in resolving service calls Assist in standard configuration development Create/update disaster recovery plans Participate in disaster recovery drills Work with PennDOT partners and employees including IT coordinators in deployment activities Attend meetings with PennDOT developers, users, and partners Perform Technical Lead duties for a variety of projects Strong Knowledge of IBM's XIV storage software. Strong knowledge of IBM's IBM XIV Storage Subsystem. Strong knowledge of IBM's 3584 Tape Library. Strong Knowledge of Cisco's MDS 9513 SAN Switches. Strong knowledge of PC operations, printer operations, file server operations, print server operations, and network operations. Strong knowledge of Tivoli's Storage Manager. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, MS Project). Working knowledge of Windows and Windows products, personal computer software set up and installation, PC connectivity products and PC hardware connectivity. Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines and a willingness to work off hours as the need arises in support of changes. Effective verbal communication skills are required to work with all levels of the organization including management, vendors, and various PENNDOT personnel. Effective writing skills are required in order to document work performed. Superior interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work effectively in a team environment. High level of proficiency in effective problem solving required.
