Role: Data Modeler Location: Downtown Houston, 77002
Duration: 2 year contract The Data Modeler will play an active role in developing and documenting database design for the new system. The Data Modeler will work with architects, development leads and business owners to develop data models for the new system. The Data Modeler must have strong understanding of data modeling principles and practices and deep database design and development experience. Roles and Responsibilities: Work with architects, development leads and business owners to create logical data model. Employ knowledge of database features and objects such as partitioning, change data capture, indexes, views, indexed views to develop optimal physical data model. Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical data models. Work with the Data Architect in defining and maintaining database design standards. Collaborate with other data modeling team members to ensure design consistency and integrity. Work with Development DBA to assisting and supporting developers with SQL performance tuning, query tuning and code reviews. Develop, document and improve custom TSQL stored procedures. Adhere to Project Plan timeline and task tracking, ensuring timely delivery of Database development tasks. Communicate and work well with others; mentoring, guiding and supporting developers with SQL needs. Skills and Experience: 5+ years experience working with data modeling tools such as ERWin/ ERStudio. ERStudio experience is preferred. Experience in database design for both OLTP and Datawarehousing applications is required. Strong understanding of database normalization concepts and star schema design concepts is required. SQL 2008 R2 experience required. Experience with SQL 2012 is a plus. Strong understanding of relational database concepts and vision, with proven ability in usage of a variety of database features to design databases to ensure data consistency, accuracy and performance. Experience in oil and gas industry is a plus. Experience using SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server for Source Control. Experience using SQL Server Change Data Capture is a plus.
