1. This position is for a Javascript developer with Node.JS experience.

2. Should have OO Javascript and HTML/CSS expertise.

3. This is to support and develop Paypal merchants, so candidate should
have experience with consumer facing application development.





This JP will be REPLACING JP #7948 (Java Application Developer). Due to the
title of JP #7948, the manager is receiving too many resumes of candidates
with mainly Java experience.



Demonstrates ability to design complex applications using Object Oriented
Design techniques. | Experience developing Node.JS applications or a solid
experience building applications on top of RESTful APIs. | Solid knowledge
of common web front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, and
jQuery/Dojo/YUI). | Experience with JavaScript templating systems
(Mustache, Dust, etc). | Comfortable with modern JavaScript architectures.
| Solid knowledge of algorithms, design patterns, and componentization
approaches. | Experience with cross-browser, cross-platform, and design
constraints on the web. | Experience in software design patterns, problem
solving and troubleshooting skills. | Strong attention to detail. | Proven
problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills. | Ability to
operate effectively both independently as well and within a team. | BS/BA
or equivalent technical degree with several years professional commercial
application / front-end development experience.

Q. Describe the project they will be working on?
A. Resource will be on a team that is responsible for developing
applications for Paypal Merchants.

Q. What are the Top Three Skills needed to perform this role/job?
A.
1. Must have work experience with Java application development with Node.JS
2. Must have developed consumer facing application (manager no interested
in seeing IT type internal application)
3. Built REST API’s with Java Script/HTML/CSS

Q. What would the typical work day look like for this contractor (what are
they responsible for)?
A. Collaborate with developers to build merchant API’s. Hands on heavy
coding and be able to test code with mindset toward quality. Open to code
review with peers and conduct feedback for improvements. Daily scrum
meetings/ceremonies for planning and retrospection.

Q. Any technology companies or a particular industry background that you
would like them to come from?
A. Transaction/payment is a plus but not a must.

Q. What is the Duration of assignment - possible extensions?
A. Possible extension if candidate proves they are a value add to team.

Q. What is your interview process? (phone, interview panel, loop) Who will
be reviewing resumes, do you need help setting up a delegate?
A. Manager will conduct resume review. Top candidate will be scheduled for
technical phone screen and then move to onsite interview with 2-3 engineer
and manager. Manager open to Skype if a super star candidates.

Q. Do you have a list of screening questions to share with the suppliers
that would aide in further screening candidates? Not at this time but
please review the below.
A. I am flexible to hire someone with only 2 or 3 years of experience (but
very bright and have the right experience) all the way to over 10 years of
relevant experience
- I am looking for hard-core, roll-up your sleeves software engineers who
will write code; not a dev.-lead or architect who wants to “design” more
rather than to code
- I am looking for engineers, not “just web developers”; while the emphasis
is on Node.Js + Javascript + HTML + CSS, they need to know their data
structures and algorithms really well
- I very strongly prefer developers who worked on consumer-facing
commercial applications versus those who worked on “IT-type”, internal-use
only applications
