This individual will be assigned to develop reports for an enterprise project/contract management system and data mart being deployed in parallel. The new person will support reporting and analysis needs for our legacy financial management system whose data is being archived into a suite of data marts. Expertise with Crystal Report and, Business Objects Webi Reports is required. The ideal candidate will also have experience with Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services or other data analysis tools, but is not necessary. Experience with Data ETL (Extract, Transfer and Load) using tools such IBM Data Stage (VDOT’s standard), AbInitio, Informatica, SQL Server Integration Services, WhereScape Red or others is also desirable, but not required. Responsibilities and Skills must include: Develops complex but effective custom reports, dashboards and other visualizations to meet the users' requirements. Trains users and responds to requests for assistance. Responsible for all aspects of reporting solution including: new report generation, report optimization, customization of existing reports and standardization of reports. Experience in installation, configuration and administration of Crystal Reports and ODBC. Development of reports which include parameterized reports (Static, Dynamic & Cascading Prompts), formulas, nested groups, manual running totals, summaries, conditional formatting and charts. Ability to optimize reports by making existing reports more dynamic and flexible by utilizing parameters, prompts and triggered alerts. Works with user community to identify requirements for business intelligence solutions. This includes identifying key data elements, performance measures, business processes and data models, semantic layers, OLAP Cubes and other reporting/analysis solutions to meet user needs. Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills are required. Ability to design and optimize Business Objects Universes is highly desired, but not required. Work Habits We are looking for someone with strong technical expertise who can also work independently with users to establish requirements and specs required for deliver the reports. Previous recruitments for similar positions have drawn candidates who develop reports from specs provided by their teammates. This is NOT what we are looking for. Writtent and oral communication skills are important. Again, the developer will be part of a team, but he/she will be expected to function independently.
