*PURPOSE OF POSITION:*

The Business Analyst will be responsible for initiating and leading short,
medium, and long term feature/functionality business and technical
requirements that support the business plans and strategic business
initiatives.  The Business Analyst will be required to work with business
stakeholders to create initial requirement specs as well as work with
existing business specs to determine the detailed needs of the Development
Team.



The Business Analyst position requires a significant level of coordination
and negotiation skills, including the need to simultaneously work with
customers, the business (and business partners), and technology teams to
identify, assess, define, document, and negotiate for the “best” product
features and functionality to enable to meet or exceed its business
goals.  *This
position requires exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a
cool, calm demeanor that can help focus and direct solutions to problems,
strong analytic abilities that allow clear, precise definition of the
features and functionality required, and an exceptional attention to detail
and follow-through.*



*JOB DUTIES:*

1.          Work with the Product Development Team and others to identify,
categorize and document high level business requirements for inclusion in a
Business Case.

2.          Analyze high level business requirements and develop lower
level functional and technical requirements.  Various deliverables include
System Requirement Specifications, User Interface Specifications, screen
mock-ups, report mockups, process and navigational flows, etc.

3.          Determine impact of functional requirements in collaboration
with other feature team members on various aspects of existing system.

4.          Examine integration with existing applications and lifecycle
support implications.

5.          Support design team in the translation of requirements into
structured systems design.  Facilitate requirements and design sessions
with both business and technical team members.  Participate in issue
investigation and resolution as appropriate.

6.          Maintain ownership of a feature or feature set through out the
systems development life cycle supporting design, development, *quality
assurance* *and production support* efforts.  Act as the go-to person for
requirements questions and clarification.  In many cases, become an expert
on specific features and participate in any changes even after
implementation to production.

7.          Support User Acceptance of a release or feature including
development of *Test Plans, Test Conditions, and Test Scripts, validation
of the application through participation in the testing process,
coordination of* *User Acceptance Testing* *and support of end users during
execution of User Acceptance Testing.*

8.          Participate in updating training content in coordination with
Sales & Marketing.

9.          Organize and/or participate in system demos and presentations
to various stakeholders as needed.

10.      Support system implementation/rollout activities, including all
necessary pilots.

11.      Communicate with app and system end users to gather system
feedback and improve functionality.

12.      Manipulate data with standard Microsoft Office tools to support
business case and issue analysis.

13.      Perform all work in accordance with company’s quality programs,
standards and procedures.

14.      Maintain safety, security, and privacy standards throughout all
areas of responsibility.

15.      Other duties, as assigned.





*ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:*

   1. Prior experience in the Business Analyst/Systems Analyst realm, with
   proven experience in one or more significant, complex, software development
   projects.
   2. *7 years of experience as a Business/Systems Analyst.*
   3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
   4. *Ability to lead and facilitate meetings and other product design,
   development and support sessions*
   5. Ability to think logically and document own ideas and those of others
   6. Ability to comfortably meet with (both face-to-face and via
   phone/web-conference) interview and support internal and external customers
   7. Bachelors degree in business or technical area, or suitable work
   experience.

Client is into designing information solutions for the vehicle aftermarket
from decades of automotive content related to parts, repair and service.
These solutions are delivered as printed books, data extracts, web
services, and software applications. We are a cutting edge development
organization using the latest and greatest technologies such a *HTML/5,
CSS3, Backbone, Marionette, JQuery, JavaScript, and Web Services to create
world class browser and mobile user experiences*.  *We are primarily a
Microsoft shop using Visual Studio 4.5 development tools to create C#,
ASP.NET <http://ASP.NET> and .NET applications that connect to SQL Server
databases*.





*JOB DUTIES:*



* The Business Analyst will use analytical, technical, and organizational
skills and experience to facilitate the identification, design, and
implementation of both internal and external business and system solution
requirements.

* The Business Analyst is the primary liaison between the customer (aka or
via Product Management & Sales), the business community (e.g. Content
Services, Marketing, SMEs), technology (aka Application Development and
Production Services), and external partners (outsourcing and/or business
partners), for all project requirements during the
Inception/Elaboration/Construction Phase(s).

* The Business Analyst is responsible for proactively conducting interviews
with all project stakeholders to elicit functional requirements, modeling
and documenting those requirements in an organized manner, then managing
and communicating those requirements through the project life cycle (e.g.
SDLC and ALM).

* Upon establishment of the requirement baseline, the Business Analyst will
address change management issues (via Management and Project Office) and
assist in the constructions and transition (e.g. Testing, Implementation,
Training, and Support) phases.

* The Business Analyst ensures that the technical solutions being developed
will satisfy the needs of the business and solves the "business problems".

* Ability to effectively scribe technical meetings and analyze IT project
requirements to determine types of artifacts needed.

* The Business Analyst works directly with the UXD to analyze and develop
conceptual design (via POC/POV/Prototyping/Wireframes) of the system
components.  He/she ensures high-level designs; including architectural
requirements, are accurately documented and mapped to the approved
requirements in Team Foundation Server (TFS).  He/she also participates in
creating the logical data model(s).

* Develop written information about the organization’s computing systems
that aid in their development, use, and support. Outputs include will
include a range of documents to be read by both technical and non-technical
personnel across all departments.

* Research, plan, design, write, and edit a range of documents and
artifacts, including user guides and manuals, technical specifications,
training materials, user policies, and proposals for both print and online
media.



*Responsibilities include but not limited to:*

* Review, analyze and evaluate user needs against systems to determine the
most effective means of satisfying the requirements.

**Record, organize, and monitor requirements through the use of Team
Foundation Server (TFS).*

* Produce designs and specifications for new products and product
enhancements.

* Communicate orally and in writing to a variety of technical and business
experts.

* Evaluate and translate information harvested through customers, surveys,
workshops, focus groups, and SMEs into business and technical requirements.

* Establish, communicate, and maintain documentation standards, and provide
training where required.

* Maintain currency and accuracy of all documentation.

* Edit written documentation of development and other IT staff to create
unified and consistent supporting documents.

* Participate in the development of technical and business strategy.

* Participate in the definition of business analysis and documentation
processes.

* Design templates and tools to continuously improve processes.

* Research, evaluate, and recommend new documentation tools and methods in
support of documentation improvement efforts.



*Required Qualifications*

** 8 years experience in business analysis.*

** 5+ years experience as an Application Developer (.NET, HTML/5, CSS, Web
Services).*

** Previous experience working with an application development team.*

** Previous experience with browser-based UXD/UI development.*

** Experience with requirements gathering and traceability (RTM).*

** Experience in data analysis including writing SQL queries.*

** Experience in reading XML.*

* Experience developing requirements, specifications, use cases,
prototypes, or storyboards.

* Experience championing business analysis and documentation standards.

* Demonstrated ability to understand relational data models.

* Excellent English technical writing skills ad ability to peer review
technical documents for grammar, content, and style of writing.

* Ability to speak, write and listen effectively.

* Ability to analyze target audience and present ideas in user-friendly
language.

* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Portfolio of work showing experience and relevant examples.



*Preferred Skills & Experience:*

* The ideal candidate would have a combination of technical business
analyst skills with a degree in Technology.

* *Experience with browser-based (Safari, Google Chrome, IE9 or higher) and
mobile technologies (iOS, Android).*

* *Experience with automotive data.*

** Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS).*

** Experience with both waterfall and agile development methodologies.*

** Certifications in Business Analysis.*
