Role: Java Developer Location: HARTFORD, CT Duration: 6-12 Months *VISA: GC OR USC ONLY* Description This individual will play a key role delivering technical support/programming for multiple JAVAbased applications within the External Services area of Personal Insurance (PI). This position offers opportunity to utilize analysis and design, coding, debugging and other technical skillsets as well as to participate on both agile and waterfall-based projects. The successful candidate will possess experience/familiarity with the following technologies: JAVA SQL Server and/or Oracle XML Knowledge and some experience of JBOSS/WebSphere is a plus This position requires working closely with team members, other PI development teams (BA, SA, Designers, Architects) as needed along with other support areas (DevOps, Release Management) in support of PI development initiatives. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. The ability to work independently or in a team environment is required. The candidate will be expected to transform system requirements into solid technical solutions while employing standard/approved development methodologies and best practices. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide JAVA development support for multiple JBoss/WebSphere-based Travelers PI applications and environments. Work will include, but not be limited to, the following: Design, build, test and implement changes to support various PI initiatives. Actively interact with team members, other PI teams and external IT departments in support of development activites. Cross-training with other team members to gain knowledge of supported applications and services. Taking initiative to understand the business function of all support applications. The team is also responsible for supporting a small but growing number of .NET applications. There will be opportunity to expand into this space as well.
