*Required Experience:*

·         5+ Years VMWare ESX guest OS support experience (ESXi 5.5 / 6.0)

·         vCenter 5x and higher experience required

·         Cisco UCS experience with converged technologies.

·         3+ years' experience troubleshooting a VMware Environment.

·         Experience with VMware ESX, virtualization analysis, and
consolidation activities.

*Required Skills:*

·         Ability to build ESX clusters with Cisco UCS converged hardware.

·         Virtualization experience: Installing, managing, and overseeing
VMware vSphere ESXi host servers and guests.

·         Experience with server hardware assembly, break/fix, and
configuration (Cisco / UCS preferred)

·         Be comfortable with vSphere PowerCLI and able to write simple
scripts.

·         Advanced knowledge of ESXi operating system and general system
administration.

·         UCS Central experience with Global managed UCS Domains..

·         Expert knowledge of virtual environments.  Specifically VMware
(5.5 and 6.0)

·         Strong knowledge of ESXi patching using VUM.

·         Strong knowledge of networking and networking protocols.

·         Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.

·         Experience in network attached storage (NAS) and Storage Area
Network (SAN) technologies such as EMC & PURE is desired.

·         Ability to quickly find solutions to unfamiliar problems
(research skills).

·         Knowledge of security practices (PCI-DSS).

·         Must be able to follow change controls and security procedures.

·         Analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot system
problems.

·         Ability to work independently (critical) and as part of a team.

·         Willing to work off-hours in an on-call schedule as needed.
Off-hours work will most likely be required.

·         Perform advanced problem analysis, issue trending, and outage
management.

·         Ability to think outside the box for solutions.

·         Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

·         Be familiar with troubleshooting hardware, hypervisor, and
advanced OS issues.

·         Be familiar with vSphere PowerCLI and/or PowerShell, able to
understand the code enough to combine / rewrite multiple scripts into one.
Ability to automate multi step tasks and complicated workflows.

*The following Preferred (not required):*

·         Virtualization - VMWare vSphere - VCP certified.

·         Fluency in advanced troubleshooting skills, methodologies and
processes experience with a converged Infrastructure Platform( Cisco UCS).

·         VMTurbo or VCOPS experience preferred

*Duties / Responsibilities to include:*

·         Full range of VMware/UCS System Administration duties including
security patching and troubleshooting

·         ESXi upgrades from 5.5 to 6.0.  vCenter upgrade from 5.5 to 6.0.

·         SRM implementation.

·         Create and manage VMware hosts and clusters.  Creating new
service profiles and bringing new ESX hosts on-line.

·         Troubleshoot and resolve issues with the VMware infrastructure

·         Create and manage host profiles

·         Use monitoring technologies to help find, resolve and escalate
problems in the Virtual environment where appropriate.

·         Monitor, manage and address DISK / LUN capacity issues.

·         Ability to write and use Powershell / PowerCLI scripts as needed

·         Upgrades with UCS (firmware and drivers)

·         Server hardware assembly for ESXi host implementations

·         Participation on new projects and maintaining ESX systems.

·         This position will primarily be responsible for backend VMware
infrastructure.

·         Setup, customization, configuring, troubleshooting and
maintaining new and existing ESX infrastructure.

·         Maintaining system documentation and knowledge transfer of any
new or updated system.

·         Tuning system performance.

·         Validating and implementing critical system patches via VUM.

·         Monitor and correct issues involving, disk, memory, and CPU.

·         Support ad hoc requests from development teams.
