Purpose:
Our client is creating a new division of their company with a brand new
web-based product.
As a result, they are seeking a Ruby-On-Rails Developer to join their team.
The product is a data driven, web 2.0 application featuring user-created
content and collaboration tools.
You can be involved in this exciting expansion from its very early stages.
They offer a great location, great environment and fun, challenging work.
As an RoR developer, you will focus on specifying, analyzing, designing, and
developing new functionality for their flagship product.
Responsibilities
Design and develop the application.
Deliver high-quality production code and unit tests. Deliver releases on
time and on budget.
Work with the Director of Software Development and small team of developers
to create and prioritize iteration and release plans.
Work with the Director of Software Developmentand subject matter experts to
gather, assess and prioritize requirements.
Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle.
Communicate professionally and effectively to users, management, and other
departments.
Actively participate in and drive knowledge transfer sessions with team of
consulting developers.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree desired.
Advanced Ruby on Rails experience
Advanced data-driven application development experience (solid ActiveRecord
experience or similar O/RM).
Advanced object oriented programming experience.
Solid understanding of the MVC design pattern and other enterprise patterns.
Experience with Test Driven Development.
Advanced HTML, CSS, JavaScript skills.
Server side scripting experience (Rails View Templates (ERb), PHP, JSP,
etc.)
Agile experience (XP / Scrum)
Experience with relational data modeling and performance tuning - MySql
experience a plus.
Experience with shell environments (bash,tcsh etc) and UNIX/Linux
administration.
Solid written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with Source Control tools – Git a plus
Nice to Have
JQuery and Ajax.
Good working knowledge of e-mail (Action Mailer)
Experience with RESTful web services
Development lead experience a plus.
Search server experience (Solr, Lucene) a plus
Experience in the healthcare industry and/or regulated software environments
a plus.
Experience with configuration management tools (Capistrano, Vlad).
Experience with continuous integration tools (Cruise, Cruise Control, CCrb)
