POSITION: SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (C# / .NET)
*Located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. * The company is a manufacturer of outboard marine engines (boat engines). They are in need of a software development engineer for an* estimated 12-36 month contract,* with the possibility of converting to a direct position. The product being developed is a PC-based software used to interface with embedded boat control systems which allows configuration of the boat controllers and extracting diagnostic information. The controls technology is pretty advanced (remote drive systems, autonomous docking, etc.). This product will be distributed to the company’s dealers and OEMs. The position may involve you working inside the boats from time to time, and on the boat simulators. General Responsibilities: · Design, develop and maintain marine gauge software and service technician diagnostic software applications on PC and CE platforms. · Use production development tools and practices including the use of source control, issue tracking, technical specifications, Gantt charts and project organization tools such as Microsoft SharePoint and SourceForge. · Follow company coding style and commenting guidelines, use of best practices, and unit testing. Technical Skills: · Significant experience with C# and .NET framework required · Solid understanding of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) · Experience with WPF and Expression Blend (for user interface development) is a plus, but not required. · Solid understanding of XML, XPath, and XML serialization in .NET · Familiar with formal development communications such as UML, Moore and Mealy state diagrams, and software specifications Education & Experience: BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering required Detailed explanation of how the applicant meets the requirements of equivalent knowledge in relation to the required degrees listed above is also acceptable. NOTE: The manager stated that he is looking for at least 5 years experience in C# development using .NET in a PC-based Windows application environment. The candidate should also come from some sort of manufacturing environment where actual physical products are developed, not just software or websites.
