Job Title: Linux Administrator Location: Eagan, MN Duration: 6 Months+ Availibility: IMM HP -Federal Consulting Delivery has a need for a Linux Administrator - Migration Engineer for USPS located in Eagan, MN, local candidates only (means do what you can to find someone close please). At least 5 years of consecutive USA experience Job Description: The US Postal Service (USPS) is migrating applications from a legacy SUN platform to a new SuSE Linux environment. HP has developed a standards-based cookie cutter approach for application migration to the to the new SuSE Linux platform. The Application Migration consultant will configure VM's based on provided specifications, configure database VIPs, configure Database Storage, help troubleshoot problems and assist with migration activities/cutovers. Qualifications: • 3+ years very strong experience with Solaris to Linux migrations • 3+ years Enterprise Linux experience • 7+ years overall UNIX experience • Experience carrying out porting & migration assessment studies • Experience in the use of the HP Solaris to Linux toolkit • COTS migration analysis experience for Solaris to Linux • Understanding of basic UNIX operating system environment (basic commands) and application installation process (Solaris package manager and RPM manager) • Exposure to Solaris/Linux application development process (source control, build/make process, scripting, C/C++ programming) • Some after hours / weekend work required during migration cutovers.
