ETL Data Architect

Philadelphia.

Length is 3 months+.

Phone Hire.

Here's the description. The keys are ETL Data Architecture experience as well
as Data Mart and Reporting Analytics experience.

Description:

Project Goal:

The primary objective of this initiative is to define, design and build a more
integrated and efficient data platform for quality and safety reporting, and
associated analytics.

Scope for Data Architect:

a.. Assess the current state of the six (6) identified data sources (i.e.
HPM; Theradoc; Press-Ganey; UHC; Canopy; Quantros) that provide the required
raw quality and safety data, and the ability of these sources to support the
defined requirements for data, reporting and analytics.
b.. Review the SDS data mart to identify relevant data models, design
principles, platform choices, infrastructure and other elements that should be
incorporated or considered in the design of the quality and safety analytics
data mart and the extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) components.
c.. Define, design and build the quality and safety analytics data mart,
populated with the required data originating from the identified six (6)
sources and transformed as needed to generate the required quality and safety
metrics to support the defined reports and dashboards. This database work will
include the design of a conceptual data model, logical design and the physical
build of the database.
Technical Approach

The future state Quality and Safety Analytics Data and Reporting platform will
provide Penn Medicine with an extensible architecture capable of delivering
reporting and analytic capabilities across all targeted end-user contexts:
hospital, unit, defined patient cohort, clinical department chair, service
line, and enterprise. The architecture will be designed to align with Penn
Medicine's defined requirements and includes the following features:

a.. Employs common design constructs and standards from the SDS data mart
b.. Integrates external quality and safety benchmark data modeled in
compatible data structures with the data mart
c.. Leverages all appropriate existing Penn Medicine technologies and
infrastructure
d.. Implements Oracle 10g features that will allow the platform to perform
and scale
Architectural Components

The new Quality and Safety Analytics Data Mart will be designed and built using
the same data and technical architecture used to create the SDS Data Mart,
sharing and reusing critical data structures and processing components to
maximize the efficiency of these enterprise data assets.

The platform includes the architectural components described below.

Source Data

Source data will be made available to the platform in the form of flat file
extracts for consumption by ETL. Attempts will be made to use existing source
data feeds, based on findings from the Requirements Definition & Assessment
phase.

Extraction, Transformation and Load

The ETL layer will move source data from flat files to the Stage area, and then
to the Data Mart. ETL will be implemented based on a combination of shared
components, including standard logging and error handling, and
source-to-target-specific components.

Data Repositories

Two data repositories will capture data in the Quality and Safety Analytics
Data Mart: Stage and Data Mart. Data will be loaded initially in the stage
area directly from source data extract files. The stage area will be designed
and modeled to allow data to be loaded as efficiently as possible. Data in the
stage area is transient, and persists only for the length of time necessary to
ensure data has been successfully loaded into the Data Mart.

Reporting and Analytics

Reporting and Analytics will require traditional business intelligence (BI),
reporting, SQL queries and ad-hoc query capabilities. Business Objects is
capable of supporting all these capabilities.

The Data Mart will be modeled dimensionally, and will also support standard SQL
and ad hoc queries.

Thanks & Regards
