Position:* *Business Objects Developer

Analysis and development of new software applications and/or the
modification of existing software applications. This will entail the review
and understanding of project scope, requirements, project design and the I.T
development life cycle. The Business Intelligence Systems Analyst will also
be required to perform quality assurance checks prior to report
installation.
Management of existing business intelligence and reporting application
support queues (issue resolution). Any newly created or modified
applications will require support time to correct software defects. The
analyst will need to respond quickly to critical issues.
Analysis (scope and requirements) and Design. The position will have
involvement with requirements gathering, documenting requirements and design
creation. This may include leading (guiding and mentoring) a team of
developers in the design phase.
Interaction and communication with business users and off shore resources.
Required to communicate with business users regarding requirements, design
reviews and prototype presentations. Communication to lead and support
offshore development resources will also be required.
Assist with developing, implementing, and continuously updating “best
practices” and standards as they relate to reporting and analytics in the
business intelligence environment.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
Course of Study/Major: Information Systems or Computer Science
Related Work Experience:
· Personal qualities: innovation, resourcefulness, tenacity,
independence, energy, and self-confidence
· Experience in data warehousing and business intelligence
· High proficiency in understanding relational and dimensional data
models
· Proficiency in SQL including the use of SQL editors, stored
procedures, database triggers and optimizing SQL statements
· Experience with Oracle 9i or higher
· Broad understanding of reporting technologies, including reporting
suite management, report visualization, design and development, dashboard
visualization , design and development, and analytical modeling, design and
development
· Experience in tuning/caching reports, and service configuration
· Minimum two years knowledge of and experience with Business Objects
toolsets, including Universe Designer, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports,
and Crystal Xcelsius, as a designer, developer, and administrator
· Experience with Business Objects Enterprise XI R3
· Strong strategic skills, the ability to lead in the adoption of
reporting, dashboard, and analytics technologies and toolsets, standards and
best practices
· Proven tactical skills, the ability to move tactical decisions
towards strategic initiatives
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
· Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team
· Ability to collaborate effectively with a broad base of business and
technology associates
· Ability to work effectively with a broad range of internal and
external customers
· Ability to handle difficult situations; work as a team to resolve
issues and to help “firefight” during crisis situations
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
· Demonstrated ability with Microsoft desktop tools, including Word,
Visio, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
· Ability to travel as necessary
· Ability to work overtime as necessary
