Websphere Administrator St. Louis, MO 6 Months GENERAL SUMMARY: The Platform Engineering team is responsible for standardizing, improving, and supporting the application platform for the organization. This is accomplished by working with key players from organizational groups to define, improve, and socialize processes and standards. A successful candidate will need to be a very technical, hands-on individual with strong communication and troubleshooting skills. PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: . Help to define, document, implement, socialize, and support processes and standards for building and deploying enterprise applications. . Review application designs and implementation plans for scalability and maintainability . Help evaluate prospective technologies and products and standardize use thereof . Build and maintain conceptual and physical application/infrastructure diagrams . Work with IT and Business management to evaluate new software development and migration projects and formulate strategies to achieve desired outcomes . Assist with urgent production issues as required, facilitate root cause analysis, and remediate via refined processes, standards, documentation, and review . Lead and mentor other technologists in various efforts . Bridge the gap between software development and system administration teams through facilitating communication and creating technical solutions . Other duties and special assignments as required QUALIFICATIONS: . College degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience . Experience in several of the following areas: o deploying, tuning, and maintaining Web Application Containers (Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, Websphere, Mule, etc) o packaging and deploying applications at both the application level (Java packages such as JAR, WAR, EAR) and system level (RPM, DEB, etc). o utilizing scripting languages to automate deployment and configuration tasks (PERL, Python, Shell Scripting, etc) o managing and supporting message queuing solutions (Websphere MQ, etc) o load balancing solutions (BigIP or others) o using continuous integration solutions (Hudson) to perform automated builds and deployments . Ability to keep sight of the big picture while solving tasks . Strong knowledge of unix/linux command line . Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills .
