*Local to CA !!* My client has an opening for a SQL Server DBA in San Diego CA. Start is ASAP & will last for 6+ MONTHS.
Duties 1. As a SQL Server DBA, you will be part of Database Team in the Global Information Services Organization. 1. The successful candidate will be responsible for administration and maintenance of production database servers, participate in the design of complex database systems, performance tuning and on-call support during off hours and weekends. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 1. Experience in MS SQL Server installation and configuration. 2. Participates in the creation and enforcement of architectural standards: security, availability, replication, storage, archive/purge, configuration management, metadata and data dictionary 3. Participates in the creation and enforcement of database development standards and processes, including: naming, coding, database security, data access, documentation Initiates proactive solutions and enforces best practice approaches to problem solving and maintenance of database systems 4. Monitors and optimizes system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, partitioning and other methods 5. Responsible for backups, recovery, and disaster recovery processes 6. Responsible for providing and reviewing trend analysis and make informed decisions regarding resource management. 7. Performs logical and physical data modeling 8. Develops reliable and efficient database code to support enterprise reporting 9. Implements complex database solutions to support business needs Required Skills: 1. Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving various performance issues and tuning. 2. Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment 3. Expert-level knowledge of database design, implementation, transaction processing, referential integrity, performance tuning and monitoring with an emphasis in MS SQL 4. Exceptional data modeling, relational database design, and ability to create and implement physical databases from logical data models 5. Experience with developing and managing high availability solutions: replication, clustering, mirroring, log shipping 6. Demonstrated exceptional data-access coding skills: T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views. 7. Hands-on knowledge of database backup and recovery methods and tools (SQL native, Oracle RMAN, Idera, etc) 8. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to translate information and develop insights 9. Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to lead working groups, negotiate and create consensus 1. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with senior management Desired Additional Skills: - MySQL and Oracle experience is a plus - Hands-on experience with at least one of the following development environments/languages: C#, Java, .NET, JavaScript Preferred Educational Background: BA/BS Degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field Large scale enterprise environments 5+ years of experience with database maintenance and management, data/process analysis and modeling, logical and physical database design and development.
