Title: HP SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Duration: 3+ Months
Our client is a solution provider in need of a Systems Engineer/Architect to
assist in a pre-sales effort. This will be a 3-month contract in the
Houston area, beginning immediately.
The Pre-sales Senior Solution Architect position is responsible for working
with the sales and post-sales teams in complex solution positioning and
design. The role is reserved for an individual who has technical expertise
and field experience as a solution architect.
Communications - customer and event demo capabilities, detailed Visio
creation, customer facing and vendor technology presentations, whiteboarding
skills, project management, policy and procedures, configuration / sizing
using standard and vendor supplied tools, research, strong technical writing
skills, and establishment and nurturing of excellent customer/vendor
relations
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement - continuous education in vendor
solutions and certifications, team leadership for projects in a technical
capacity with an understanding of business process implications, ownership
of technical issues and understanding of escalation procedures (internal and
vendor), mentor to SAs junior to the Pre-Sales Senior Solution Architect
role
Sales Support and Development - Assist Account Executives with visiting
customers and participating in project meetings and assisting with follow-up
Professional Services Support and Development - scoping of professional
services, service briefs and Statements of Work
Requirements:
Strong UNIX experience with understanding of HP Proliant, Integrity servers,
and System Insight Manager. as well as, HP Software (or similar management
software like CA Unicenter, BMC, etc.), understands ITIL/ITSM, understands
SAN concepts and how they relate to server architecture.
Prefered:
Associate's Degree and 7 years of relevant work experience or equivalent
Advanced Certification in the following information technology disciplines:
HP-UX Servers, peripherals and software (Openview)
Advanced understanding of information technology in 2-3 areas of expertise
ITIL/ITSM
Red Hat RHCE
Mercury Testing and Tools
Strong technical writing skills
Strong Visio skill
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong capabilities in scoping professional services service briefs and
statements of work
Strong attention to detail
Ability to listen and show thoughtfulness in meeting
Displays a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Ability to work within a virtual team environment
Lead technical meetings and be active in sales presentations
