Job Description:
Experienced Datastage Designer/Developer position is needed to supplement
existing team working on a complex implementation involving file-based data
ETL.

The candidate would have the opportunity to be involved in the design,
architecture and development of many aspects of the Partner Platform
program and initial build out of new Data Warehouse initially utilizing
Datastage ETL tools and Unix Scripts. Subsequent releases are expected to
include Oracle Exadata for warehouse data structures and interfaces to data
sources and data consumers.
Ideally this candidate will also have previous well rounded experience with
business application development as well as recent solid concentration on
data warehouses, ETL processing, and data governance.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with large team and with
senior level business teams to ensure optimal results.

Years experience for the following Skills:
DataStage ETL Architect (3 years minimum)
LINUX (3 years minimum)
IBM DataStage v9.1 (3 years minimum)

TOP 3 CRITERIA FOR THIS POSITION:
1) experienced in complex DataStage concepts for file-based ETL including
Change Sets
2) experience with working on large, complex team
3) experience with multiple overlapping projects using a mixture of
Waterfall and Agile methodologies

PROJECT-SPECIFIC DETAILS:
The Partner Workstation Platform project is a multi-phase, multi-release
program to deploy a new platform which will be used by internal Northern
Trust service teams to service clients and to enable new sales/marketing
initiatives. The project entails new infrastructure and new business
process flows which will replace existing systems and provide overall view
of client by consolidating data from multiple applications.

ADDITIONAL DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop / Code / Unit Test Interfaces (Data Stage)
• Develop / Code Data Store Load Processes
• Execute Unit Tests
• Support System/Acceptance testing
• Support Defect and Change Control
• Experienced in Data Stage program development
• Experienced in Data Stage work flow, object invocation and scripting

SOFTWARE / SYSTEMS EXPECTATIONS:
Datastage for coding, unit testing
Unix command line tools for working with files on Linux file systems
MS-Excel for reviewing and understanding data source-to-target mappings
MS-Visio and MS-Office for reading/updating project documentation and
system design

HIRING PROCESS:
Phone screens/interviews can be scheduled immediately. May include multiple
interviewers in one session.

OTHER:
This position is initially being opened to back-fill for a developer who is
leaving, but a well-qualified candidate will be considered for a long-term
engagements and, if proven, may be eligible for more advanced position to
help with ETL Design or ETL Architecture activities.
Following capabilities are beneficial but not required (as more experienced
candidates will be considered)
• Work closely with Solution Architect on MIS foundation framework design
• Develop detail design specifications and documentation around Data Stage
processing for the MIS framework
• Develop detail specifications for development activities
• Monitor and review development activities
• Experienced in program specification development (Data Stage and other
platform tools and languages)
• Experienced in the design and implementation of Data Stage processing and
work flow
