Required 4 Years *Description: * *System* *Administrator* is responsible for server back up and security, along with performance tuning and capacity planning. SA’s should possess an understanding of network and distributed computing concepts. * Systems Administration: * - Installs, configures and maintains the most technologically complex servers including the installation of multiple microprocessors, redundant array of inexpensive disk (RAID) controllers and disk sets and clustered servers. - Develops and implements complex systems scripts and utilities, using the appropriate operating facilities/language to integrate software into the *system* and automate routine systems management tasks - Sets up and maintains users and user groups, including licenses, permissions and passwords. - Allocates required resources and modules to each. - Establishes and maintains systems documentation. - Demonstrates correct *system* usage for users. Assist in the creation of training documentation. - Responds to off hour calls using remote tools and phone or site visit in a regular support staff rotation in order to maintain a 24/7 computer operation. * Server Administration: * - Work independently installing, configuring and upgrading server software products including the operating *system*. - Monitors server for performance and proper operation. - Independently works in changing and updating the operating *system* and related software to improve performance or correct problems. - Maintains an events log to track and analyze server performance and operational parameters. - Diagnoses, researches and resolves complex hardware problems on the servers. - Interfaces with vendor support staff as necessary to repair or replace affected hardware while minimizing the impact on users. - Designs and configures a test environment (sandbox) for testing new applications and upgrades in L&I's network environment. - Prepares plans and implements upgrades to minimize impact on availability of server resources. - Loads production versions of applications on servers after testing and approval via the Change Management process. - Monitors storage device health and utilization on server. - Installs additional storage devices or replaces failing devices as necessary to ensure continuous availability of the server. - Develops and maintains operating procedures and backup/recovery procedures for the servers. - Prepares and maintains documentation for the established procedures. - Prepares and distributes software upgrades to clients, utilizing appropriate software distribution resources. - Deploys and manages server resources to minimize the impact of hardware failures on users' access to *system* resources. - Consults and educates other Bureaus and Program Areas on the usage and capabilities of Intel servers to accomplish automation tasks and updates throughout the Department with greater efficiency. - Reviews trade information, publication and professional contacts to discover new enhancements to Intel server’s software and hardware, and to learn new uses for the implemented *system*. - Advises supervisors of these changes, making hardware and software recommendations. - Develops and implements standards and procedures guiding access to and use of Intel servers following Commonwealth standards. - Performs related work as required. *Questions for Requirement * Question 1: On call is required.
