• 9-10 years of experience; korn, bash, and shell • 6 years of SQL development experience • Has extensive UNIX experience • Experience includes having developed numerous Shell scripts using Korn shell, Bash shell, Bourne shell, C shell, AWK, SED, Perl, SQL, Stored procedures, XML for application monitoring, data porting, log parsing, report generation and automated through cron jobs that resulted in rapid data exchange, improved application performance by many fold. • Implemented automated shell scripts for application enhancement, monitor CPU, Memory, Disk space, email queues, restart hung processes and reduced manual tasks. JOB REQUIREMENT: This candidate will have experience breaking large complex problems into smaller tasks. Must be able to demonstrate strong troubleshooting and analytical skills while maintaining the big picture. The candidate should be strong in reading, writing, and debugging UNIX scripts primarily shell and Perl. The environment consists of thousands of scripts that are running today under Oracle Solaris that when moved to REDHAT may or may not function. The scripts will need to be reviewed for syntax and Redhat compatibility. Redhat may require different switches or the output might be in a different format. These defects will need to be recognized by the scripter and corrected. This person will need to work with the end user(s) to help review shell code and assist with them with migrating their scripts. This candidate should have experience leading work efforts and distributing workload amongst the team. 80/20 leaning on the Unix scripter side. I would not even put linux admin in the description. It just brings in too many resumes to deal with. “A Strong UNIXscripter with Experience with Linux” would be a better statement. Here is the description.
