*Position : VMWare Consultant with VBlock Exp. * *Location : Atlanta, GA or Birmingham, AL* *Duration : 6+ Months Interview: Phone then Skype GC or USC Only* *Job Description* • This position will provide engineering for infrastructure management tools, including private cloud, for the IT infrastructure. • These management systems provide self service capabilities, infrastructure elasticity, cost transparency, real-time monitoring, performance analysis, capacity planning, configuration/compliance management, job scheduling, process orchestration, and systems automation support across the disciplines of IT infrastructure such as telecommunication, networking, computing, storage, and desktop systems in support of business applications. *Job Responsibilities: * • Design/Engineering and 3rd Level Support of the VMware vRealize suite of private cloud management applications • Design/Engineering and 3rd Level Support of the automation of end-to-end delivery of systems and applications in the private cloud • Coordinate efforts to implement the required integrations to facilitate self-service portal and service catalog • Design policies around the automation of elastic systems that meet business application requirements and address infrastructure constraints • Facilitate cost transparency with the vRealize business application • Extend the functionality of the private cloud by process orchestration • Design/Engineering and 3rd Level Support for IT infrastructure management systems like Microsoft System Center Suite, Megasys Telenium, HP Server Automation and Network Automation, HP SiteScope, CA eHealth, CA AutoSys, and IBM Tivoli NetCool Omnibus • Provide infrastructure management consulting for new technology project initiatives • Provide input into the strategic considerations for IT Service Management • Development and supporting compliance with engineering standards including documentation, lifecycle plans, and design packages. • Longer term will lead a cross functional Infrastructure Design Team responsible for establishing system-wide standards for infrastructure management tools. • Responsible for assisting in the management and prioritization of an annual Systems Engineering functional and capital budgets for systems improvements in concert with related systems planning, business case development and engineering design for systems management tools and private cloud infrastructure. • Responsible for development and compliance of engineering standards including documentation, product, lifecycle plans, and design packages for systems management tools and private cloud infrastructure. • Responsible for providing third-level maintenance (reactive, preventative, and quality assurance) support as well as backup maintenance /installation coverage related to the private cloud infrastructure at specific Southern Company locations. *Job Requirements:* • Implementing VMware private cloud management systems • Knowledge of running VMware virtualization environments • Planning and deploying FCAPS tools (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, and Security Management) • Knowledge of IT Service Management and experience with IT processes and methodologies • Substantial knowledge of accepted IT Infrastructure Management standards (i.e. SNMP, TL1) • Implementation and configuration of process orchestration applications (VMware vRealize Orchestrator, Microsoft System Center Orchestrator) • Strong experience and knowledge of x86 server hardware platforms and other components (process, memory, storage, and high availability system configurations) • Ability to gather application system requirements and work with various operational groups to implement these requirements • Engineer various High Availability system configurations and Disaster Recovery environments • Broad base of knowledge of server operation systems (Windows Server 2008 & 2012, Red Hat Linux) • Working knowledge of Active Directory, DFS, WINS, DNS, DHCP • Working knowledge of Oracle and SQL Databases • Knowledge of security best practices, specifically best practices formulating firewall rules • Minimal travel is required. *Education / Experience:* • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (preferred);
