Works on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity. Provides daily operations support, maintenance and administration for our active directory environment and network systems. Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader. May coach one more or more team members on Infrastructure related work functions. Applicant Expectations: Skilled in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for copper and fiber network systems (including wireless) of moderate complexity. Highly skilled at managing and configuring startup and running configs for network switch equipment. Must have knowledge and experience with network configurations from DMARC to workstations; fiber distribution, routers, switches, DHCP, and the necessary topology needed to achieve a high QoS. Skilled at monitoring protocol compatibility, performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement. Skilled at monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining network (LAN, WAN and wireless) multiplexers, hubs and routers, and uses remote monitoring tools. Must have the ability to perform capacity and resource planning, assessing network risks and contingency planning. Ability to communicate information to Information Security Team on particular firewall rules needed to support team projects and new equipment/applications. Must have the ability to maintain and utilize network management applications to identify network faults, to ensure the provision of data or other telecommunications access to customers, and the movement of information from one location to the other. Should have experience in complying with Payment Card Industry, PCI technology standards. Should have completed pertinent IT training related to use and management of Cisco and HP Switching products. Anticipated Duties: Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of network management software; researching, analyzing and implementing software patches or hardware changes to fix any network deficiencies. Responsible for switch configuration, maintenance, monitoring and other various network security measures. Reviews requests for Network and Server technology resources. Advises customers of solutions, changes, and implements necessary controls to ensure the compliance with the acquisition process for information technology and other IT procedures. As directed develops a technology assessment that includes the identification of systems, network, operational, work load and resource priorities. Confers with, defines and assists office supervisors in the implementation of established plan to ensure timely processing and completion of responsibilities. Advises and works closely with the Infrastructure Solutions Manager on the coordination of Information Technology activities, projects and initiatives. As directed ensures team participation on task assignments, provides input and represents district interest and concerns. Interprets policies, procedures and rules as needed, providing comments and/or communicating changes to district managers and users. As selected, serve as a member of the Department's Technical Advisory Team attending mandated meetings and teleconferences. Such participation and duties includes but is not limited to technology research, evaluation, deployment and development of industry products. Assists in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures and measures in a networking environment. Performs security assessments and reviews networking initiatives for security compliance. Prepares status reports on security matters to develop security risk analysis scenarios and response procedures. Involved in the continual improvement of the network infrastructure and implementation of new security-based technologies. Evaluates and recommends security products for various platforms in the networking environment. Educates users about network security policies and consults on security issues. Must have broad technical knowledge of client/server, network topology and network/infrastructure security. Analyze the business requirements for the system architecture. Must be a team player Performs other duties as assigned. Desired Experience: Typically has 3 to 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in network operations, maintenance, design, implementation, administration and support. CCNA certification required. Other related networking certifications desired. Experience with Brocade and HP networking equipment highly desired. Experience interfacing networking with virtual environments desired, as well.
