*Senior Database Developer*
Senior DB Developer with ~10 years of experience to help support existing
systems and take a leading role in new projects.
*Duties/Projects would include:*
*Immediate Projects*
- Migrate 17 small to medium application DB from SQL 2008R2 to SQL 2014
– involves testing various interactions going in/out of database such as
reports and SSIS packages as well as coordination of user testing of
applications. Evaluate and prepare appropriate disaster recovery plans for
each application.
- Ongoing support and enhancements of existing applications, data
warehouse and reports
- Create or enhance SSRS reports, stored procedures
- Utilize SSIS for ETL processes between systems as well as automate
administrative tasks
- Enhance ETL processes as needed, fix data typically due to errors
in source system
- Periodically on-call to monitor ETL processes
*Longer Term (within 12-18 months)*
- Assist in database design and development to re-building main
transactional system in-house
- Design and build OLTP DB
- Upgrade/enhance existing Data Warehouse (some re-design of model,
build new ETL processes, update reports)
- Considering a near real-time ETL approach (~5 minute delay)
- Data conversion project to migrate data from current OLTP to new
OLTP DB
- Business Intelligence Development
- Development of new business tools for reporting and analytics –
PowerPivot, SSAS and potential mobile applications
- Identification and development of executive dashboards.
*Desired Technical Skills*
- Strong Microsoft T-SQL skills
- Experience building ETL processes, especially incremental/delta load
processes
- Experience with Data Warehouses – populating and querying slow
changing dimensions, detail and aggregate fact tables
- Well versed in building basic SSIS packages; experience with SQL 2012
or 2014 a plus
- Well versed in building reports in SSRS
- Creating/modifying reports, working with Report Manager, exposure
to Reporting Services Web Service API
- Be familiar with reading Query Execution Plans
- Be able to evaluate performance characteristics of reports and ETL
processes and revise where needed for good performance
- Any Microsoft SQL Server certifications are a plus
- Experience as team leader – supervising and mentoring junior team
members
