The Engineer will also assist in engineering functions for another initiative that leverages Hadoop as the key component of the platform. *Responsibilities:* · Lead the design of a large scale Hadoop deployment for a critical Best Buy application · Implement a large scale Hadoop deployment on RHEL 6.X leveraging a virtualized (KVM) or bare metal deployment · Implement the Hadoop platform leveraging infrastructure automation via Puppet · Participate in daily sprint meetings and provide updates to assigned tasks · Interact with Best Buy and outsourced development, application operations, and infrastructure operations teams · Assist in tuning the Hadoop platform · Operationalize the Hadoop platform by transitioning knowledge to a service provider · Participate as a resource in multiple initiatives that leverage a Hadoop platform · Provide Level Three problem escalation, support ,and troubleshooting · Create and maintain technical documentation – operational run book, standards, and supporting documentation · Ensure compliance of all solutions to established security guidelines, approved standards, and approved company policies *Normal Daily Activities* *We are looking for a talented Linux Engineer that will engineer and deliver Hadoop platforms at Best Buy. This is a very critical role and will help Best Buy continue to advance IT that leverages NoSQL platforms.* · Understand and document Commerce order processing & Payment application’s flows, payments, new requirements · Understand and document all transformation initiatives/intake requirements by Commerce Services Engineering team and convert them into stories. · Maintain the JIRA board and track the stories tied with each release · Write acceptance criteria as input to Development & QA team · Understand and document current web services, clients, suppliers and interaction patterns. · Work with Technical lead to groom the backlog and prioritize the stories · Analyze the defects that come into Sprint and prioritize them for releases · Work with development team on new features · Attend daily standups *Must Have Skills* · 10 or more years Linux engineering experience (preferably RHEL 5.X and later) and IT systems · Linux virtualization experience (preferably KVM and RHEV) · Experience with large scale distributed systems · Hands on experience working with at least one major NoSQL data platform (preferably Hadoop) · Hands on experience with infrastructure automation and at least one scripting language (preferably Puppet) · Able to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools · Cassandra Experience is a preferred *Basic Requirements* · 10 or more years of experience working with Linux and IT systems · 3 or more years of experience working with Linux virtualization and bare metal deployments-Prefer KVM and RHEV · 3 or more years of experience with scripting with Puppet(Prefer) · 1 or more years of experience implementing and supporting NoSQL data platforms- Prefer Hadoop/Hortonworks 2.2 · Broad knowledge of common applications and technologies in Internet computing (web servers, proxies, load balancers, databases, appliances, client/server, etc.) · Hands-on experience designing and implementing Linux/Unix server technology solutions of moderate to extreme complexity *Prescreening Questions* · Does the candidate have previous Hadoop or NoSQL experience, how many, what project/assignment was this on? · Does the candidate have previous Linux engineering experience, how many, what project/assignment was this on?
