Technologies supported include operating systems, servers, networks, system security, hardware and other software applications. Troubleshoot system issues, resolve or recommend solutions. Create and manage system documentation, including configurations and backup procedures. Create patches and updates as needed. Participate in the definition and implementation of system components including new servers, hardware, software and upgrades. Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot operating systems. (High) Unix, Windows: Familiarity with AIX, Solaris, Red Hat Linux, and Windows Server: Perform basic system administration with emphasis on TCP/IP networking and file system maintenance. (Med) Mainframe: z/OS management of storage systems including SMS and non-SMS DASD, HSM, STK VSM, HSM ABARS. Understanding of mainframe catalog structure and recovery. (Medium) EMC Symmetrix, EMC Clariion, EMC Centera, EMC Celerra storage arrays. (High) NetBackup, Falconstor VTL and SIR. (Med) IBM z-series: z9, FICON, VTS. (Med) McData\Brocade directors and switches. (Med) Knowledge of relational database principles. (Med) Understand the concepts of interpretive and compiled languages. Able to write simple programs in at least one scripting language. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 6+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist.
