Currently, there are insufficient DES IT network staff members with advanced network build-out and management skills to implement new DES network components for the SCUBI system for: (1) connectivity to SCUBI data center that will be located in Dallas, Texas run by Xerox, (2) installation and maintenance of connectivity and distributed architecture components to support the security, MFT, ECM, FTI, distributed printing, distributed back and recovery, and network monitoring needs of the SCUBI cloud based architecture. In order to avoid falling behind with the SCUBI Project schedule dictated by the Consortium, the State of North Carolina’s Division of Employment Security (DES) seeks to procure one (1) contractor to fill a Network Engineer role to install, maintain, and monitor network components to the current DES IT network that interface with the Xerox data center and the NC ITS network. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements: Required Skills: Sample Role Types: Network Engineer, Infrastructure Specialist Expected Skills: Ability to install and maintain network components for enterprise networks that are distributed and require a high degree of encryption and security. Ability to work without assistance; can provide leadership to others; ability to manage highly complex work efforts. This position requires an advanced degree in computer science and at least 10 years of experience in advance network development, implementation, and maintenance. Description (including, but not limited to): • Skilled at installation and maintenance of both the hardware and software necessary for a computer networks • Specialized knowledge of Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), security, TCP/IP, virtual machines, and server-network infrastructures • Specialized knowledge of installation, configuration and administration of network routers and switches • Specialized knowledge of installation of cable, wiring and related equipment for storage, server, router, load balancing systems • Specialized knowledge of disaster recovery / back up network architectures • Must have at least 10 years’ experience in network design, development and installation. • Must have advance network diagramming skills use a tool like Visio.
