Description :* * * *Software and System Tester* In this position, you’ll have a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of all Velocent products. Velocent Systems develops the industry’s most capable network performance monitoring systems for leading wireless service providers worldwide. Our systems monitor mobile broadband traffic and derive rich performance and functional metrics. We offer an excellent opportunity to join our development and verification team. This is a wide-ranging and challenging role. You’ll work across a range of technologies from low-level protocol testing through user interface verification, with general guidance and support from our highly experienced senior staff. You’ll work closely with our software developers, field support staff, customers, and suppliers. You’ll design, develop, and execute test plans for functional, performance, and stability verification. You’ll also develop and configure test scripts and tools and analyze field problems. This role offers growth opportunities in many directions, including senior verification, development, and pre- or post-sales consulting. Desired skills and background: - Functional knowledge of IP transport protocols. Knowledge of 3GPP mobile core network architecture and protocols (GTP) would be valuable. - Broad knowledge of Linux system configuration and administration. Experience with software and script development. - Experience with database systems, including installation, administration, and basic SQL queries would be valuable. - Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose complex problems, devise analysis plans, and identify root causes. In other words, you should be good at digging into difficult problems and figuring out what’s really happening. - Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to quickly write concise and complete technical correspondence. - Typical background: BS in Computer Science or Engineering with relevant commercial work experience.
