Experience . 8+ years of hands-on expert experience administering BI tools with at least 3+ years of experience as Cognos administrator. . 3+ years of BI data modeling/design and direct Cognos and SQL scripting development, including demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the Data Warehouse lifecycle, Data Mining, Business Intelligence concepts and technologies. . 3+ years of experience in using OLAP, data modeling, data extraction, transformation, loading and replication tools for business intelligence . Strong prior experience deploying detailed security implementations with various LDAP systems, maintaining and syncing Development, QA, and Production environments, Framework Manager modeling, monitoring and auditing system usage, report scheduling and bursting . Proven ability to implement and roll out packaged software and tools with exposure to installing packaged software on servers with at least 2+ years demonstrated experience installing, configuring, maintaining and upgrading Cognos application servers and tools . Strong database performance and tuning skills RDBMS such as Teradata including advanced SQL experience (ability to read/write/debug SQL) and query optimization as it pertains to reporting and analytic solutions . Prior experience administering Cognos systems on a Windows platform is strongly preferred . Prior experience with UNIX and/or UNIX shell scripting, a strong plus . Exposure to web infrastructure technologies (Portals, firewalls, DMZ's, networking, etc.) and complex system environments is preferred . Experience in Web/Internet technology, HTML, XML, JAVA script, SOAP and Visual Studio a plus Qualifications . Deep understanding of Cognos 8 BI and Cognos Powerplay architecture and related middle-tier technologies . Experience in development and administration of the Cognos 8 BI architecture . Strong Cognos 8 performance analysis and tuning skills and knowledge of associated best practices . Experience planning and executing an upgrade of Cognos or similar BI tools . Experience administering (preferred) and working with various BI tools (outside of Cognos) and an appetite for learning and working with new leading edge tools and technologies . Ability to work as On-Call contact for production support and issue resolution, if needed . Possesses a strong action and results orientation with the ability to work independently, be self motivated and proactive in achieving individual and team objectives . Ability to learn independently and be resourceful to gather information and knowledge with minimal guidance . Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and consulting skills and the ability to articulate views crisply and convincingly to varying levels and functions within the organization, particularly the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences . Strong business acumen and creative approach to problem solving and issue resolution; . Demonstrated success in a multi-team, multi-stakeholder, complex project environment . Strong testing skills - Including sampling, regression, test planning, etc., required . Cognos certification strongly preferred .
