Description :* This is 3 months-perm in NYC, EAD or GC only Contract rate Market In-person after phone screen Can also be located in Washington, DC Position Title: *SAN Engineer.* Length of Project: temp-perm Position Location: New York, NY Candidate will be part of the IT storage operations team to install, support, maintain, and monitor IT Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure for reliability and uptime. Primary responsibilities will include but is not limited to installation, maintain and support of our enterprise SAN and backup/recovery environments. With your proven track record; you will provide guidance and expertise to our storage and backup systems. Duties and Responsibilities: (list most important and frequently performed first) · Responsible for the design, implementation, management and operational support of large complex storage and backup and recovery systems and their related systems. · Architect, implement and maintain complex enterprise storage area networks and data backup and recovery systems primarily those from *Hitachi Data Systems*, NetApp, Sun Microsystems, Symantec and StorageTek, as well as McData and Brocade fibre channel switches. · Provision and allocate storage *between storage arrays and server assets (Windows and Unix Based),* assignment of RAID levels, LUN configurations, and file system creation · In collaboration with other architecture and engineering teams (System Engineering, Database Administration, Network Services and Application Development), analyze and design enterprise storage systems used for Customer Data Management, high transaction database processing and storage. Manage the subsequent implementation, documentation and maintenance of said systems. · Working with other Information Technology staff, Project Management Office and business units gather, analyze and translate business requirements into a solution design for new installations or upgrades to existing platforms. · Serve as the technical project lead on projects, including coordinating the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of hardware and software with end users, vendors and Information Technology staff and vendors performing contracted work. · Provide technical leadership for storage-related projects, including switch upgrades and installations, disk consolidations, preventive maintenance during regularly scheduled maintenance windows in accordance with internal change management processes and procedures · Responsible for the design, implementation, management and operational support of data availability and retention systems such as server and SAN based backups and an enterprise level backup solution (*preferably Veritas*). · Management of all storage and backup infrastructure software versions, installations, upgrades and patch installations · Responsible for development of documentation to perform tasks listed above. Minimum Qualifications: · *Seven or more years engineering experience with large-scale enterprise server and storage systems* including SAN, NAS, switches, and other storage infrastructure. · Strong time management, as well as organizational and communication (written and oral) skills are required. · Advanced experience of volume management on both *Windows and UNIX * (Solaris preferred). *Veritas* Foundation Suite, specifically Volume Manager and File system · Ability to provide *off hours and weekend support* for the enterprise storage infrastructure, as well as other duties as required and/or assigned Requirements and General Skills: (list required knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as physical requirements, shift work/on-call hours, travel and working conditions) · Experience with automating server and storage configurations via scripted procedures on both Windows and UNIX based OSs is required. · This position requires someone with solid team leadership attributes, the ability to manage their work load amongst changing priorities, alternating between project/design and high level operational support. · Preference given to candidates with experience across the following Hitachi Data Storage (99xx storage or Tagmastore Virtualization.
