Prepare and Maintain the Test strategy, test design, test cases, and traceability for the BI and ETL solutions under test. • Work with the BI and ETL teams closely to progress the testing toward realistic achievable milestones. • Responsible for testing of business intelligence reporting solutions developed using SQL / T-SQL and Reporting Services. • Responsible for testing of the ETL solutions developed using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2005 / 2008 and SQL / T-SQL. • Develop and maintain the manual and automated test scripts, functions / SQL code. • Develop complex SQL queries using querying tools and SQL/T-SQL and relational database manipulation. • Responsible for the full life-cycle of the test phase of a project from its kick off until delivery and readiness to be deployed to Production • Perform test task estimation, test execution, Regression testing, Functional testing, automated testing where possible. • Execute the testing of ETL Processes and BI reporting. • Escalate information as deemed necessary and provide regular status reports on the same. • Work with the offshore test team if required to plan and execute the test and coordinate with the onsite contact for the same if necessary. Perform as an integral member of the QA team, resourcing to the BI and ETL projects. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • 4 + years of experience testing business intelligence solutions and related components • Expert in the Test definition, test design, test documentation, test execution, test coverage traceability and the test process. • Strong experience with MS SQL server databases and Financials • Knowledge of architectural tool components, dashboards • Skills in data warehouse methodology; data analysis, modeling and design; and ETL testing using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2005/2008. • Knowledge of relational and dimensional data models, as well as relational databases and excellent SQL skills. • Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services Cubes (SSAS) is required. • Understanding of data rollups/aggregation, capacity planning, data standardization, slowly changing dimensions and data security • Ability to design and execute test scripts and plans for unit, integration, regression and UAT testing processes • Good skill distribution between Manual and Automated test preparation and execution is required. • Automation testing in HP Mercury tools, Test complete or similar. • Excellent Documentation skills from a technical and Analytical set of documentation scope related to the testing team and its efforts. • Experience working with Source control systems, Vault / Subversion or similar. • Experience working with Agile Project Management tools, Mingle or similar. • Experience working with defect management tools and processes. • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and be a great team player. • Must demonstrate a flexibility to multi task and able to handle multiple priorities at the same time not compromising on Quality levels. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Familiarity with Testing in Agile software development methodology or a good mix of various fast paced models. • 4 – 5 years experience in the above skills or related position • BA/BS in Computer Science • Knowledge on the financial industry a plus.
