*Title:*                     Data Warehouse Engineer

*Reports to:*         BI Manager

Summary:  This is an IT engineer position responsible for enterprise-wide
administration of URBN Corporation’s Data Warehouse environment in support
of internal systems and customers. The position requires a strong
background in a heterogeneous database environment. This individual should
have extensive experience with 10+ terabyte data warehouses and with
extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with large databases, such as
Netezza  as well as MS SQL Server. This person will report to the Business
Intelligence (BI) manager and work with the BI team, other IT members,
business analysts, and hardware and software vendors.

*Job Responsibilities:*

Administer the enterprise data warehouse (EDW), data marts and related
database environments, including but not limited to, users, performance,
backup and recovery, security and upgrades to new releases.

Work with the BI team to provide data management and provision data to the
team for BI and reporting purposes.

Create and maintain all logical and physical data models inclusive of
associated metadata.

Proactively support the environments, particularly around issues and
improvements.

Responsible for all aspects of ETL, including but not limited to design,
creation, tuning, validation, troubleshooting and maintaining ETL code and
tool.

Develop ETL flows and code for new integrations and maintain and enhance
existing ETL.

Work with BI management to develop and govern URBN EDW standards and
guidelines.

Set up complex workflows and schedules.

Follow SDLC methodology in regards to code development and deployment.

Keep current in terms of technology and best practices.

Participate in quality assurance reviews of ETL components.

Navigate on the host server for file management, file cleanup and
configuration tasks.

Write Shell scripts, PL SQL scripts and SQL scripts.

Provide regular updates to BI manager and assist with project planning, and
execution of BI strategic roadmap.





*Minimum Requirements:*



   - Highly technical knowledge of relational DBMS including DBMS
   configuration, DBMS internal structures, physical database design concepts,
   database access and query languages, and DBMS administrative tools
   - Experience in development, production support processes and problem
   resolution according to service-level agreements
   - Highly technical and strong DBMS performance and tuning skills
   - Must possess excellent communication skills
   - Must possess ability to work independently and in a team environment
   - Must possess excellent investigative and problem solving abilities
   - 10+ years SQL programming experience
   - 5+ years experience database design, administration and optimization
   - 5+ years of enterprise warehouse data modeler experience
   - 5+ years advanced experience with SSIS (2005, 2008)
   - 5+ years strong experience with ETL/ELT creation and tuning
   - 5 + years of experience with BI or Data Warehouse projects
   - 5+ years experience Shell Scripting
   - 5+ years experience Linux, UNIX and Windows
   - 5+ years strong experience managing multiple technical projects
   through a SDLC
   - 3+ years advanced hands-on experience with Netezza & NZSQL
   - 3+ years experience with T-SQL
   - Solid knowledge of SQL Server 2005, 2008 required
   - Must be proficient with MS Office '07 (or higher) - Word, Excel,
   PowerPoint, etc.
   - Retail Industry is preferred
   - BI performance management tool (e.g. Microstrategy, Proclarity)
   experience preferred
   - AS\400 and DB2\400 experience a definite plus
   - Quantisense experience is a significant plus
   - Knowledge of ROBOT, and/or Automate is a plus
