Position: Security Analyst

Location: Columbia, SC

Duration: 6 Months+



*Description:*

*GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES***



 Technical

-        Develops and manages security for more than one IT functional area
(e.g., data, systems, network and/or Web) across the enterprise.

-        Assists in the development and implementation of security policies
and procedures (e.g., user log-on and authentication rules, security breach
escalation procedures, security auditing procedures and use of firewalls
and encryption routines).

-        Prepares status reports on security matters to develop security
risk analysis scenarios and response procedures.

-        Responsible for the tracking and monitoring of software viruses.
Enforces security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring
security profiles, reviews security violation reports and investigates
possible security exceptions, updates, and maintains and documents security
controls.

-        Involved in the evaluation of products and/or procedures to
enhance productivity and effectiveness.

-        Provides direct support to the business and IT staff for security
related issues. Educates IT and the business about security policies and
consults on security issues regarding user built/managed systems.

-        Represents the security needs of the organization by providing
expertise and assistance in all IT projects with regard to security issues.

-        Must have extensive knowledge in networking, databases, systems
and/or Web operations.

-        Producing detailed documentation on all existing security
policies, practices, and technical configurations.

-        Document recommendations on improvements along with high level
estimates on associated work effort.

-        This individual will need to work with various application groups,
infrastructure groups, and management to understand security needs for each
area of the organization.

-        Design documentation will need to be produced documenting final
deployment details along with support procedures as needed.

-        Architectural technical and documentation skills are equally
important for this position.

-        Troubleshoot and recommend technical solutions for customer issues
related to software setup and configuration.

-        Develop workaround solutions as appropriate.

-        Monitor and assess current systems and recommend hardware and
software enhancements

-        Act as technical resource for other IT analysts and business units
by resolving complex computer equipment and systems problems

-        Diagnose and resolve problems related to hardware, software, or
operator error, and resolve or repair

-        Escalate complex problems to other groups, Help Desk, or vendors
for resolution or for support under maintenance agreements; oversee vendor
work

-        Install, configure, test, monitor, and maintain system and
application hardware, software, and peripherals for users; install and
configure servers in collaboration with WAN group

-        Perform equipment and software upgrades as appropriate

-        Lead and execute small projects

-        Maintain familiarity with current computer and network
products


-        Adhere to corporate information security guidelines and promote
information security among coworkers

-        Qualified candidate will be responsible performing root cause
analysis/resolution.

-        Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.





Non-Technical

-        Effectively interact and communicate with peer to Director-level
IT professionals.

-        Provide feedback to team regarding product issues, enhancements
and new features.

-        Must have initiative, drive and be a self-starter.

-        Ability to ask pertinent questions of others.

-        Proactively seek to identify, communicate and implement process
related improvements.

-        Effectively manage multiple tasks and activities concurrently and
able to provide  periodic status updates to key stakeholders

-        Collaborate extensively with peers and management to resolve
client issues while actively contributing to a growing knowledge network
that improves the effectiveness of our team and the information available
to our clients.

-        Prioritize numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively
manage the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels. This
includes ownership of the data entered into the Helpdesk system and
appropriately updating both client and appropriate employees of status of
all issues on a timely basis.

-        Good customer skills, be attentive to detail, and responsive to
customer tickets.





*LOCATION: *

Position will be based at the South Carolina Department of Revenue main
office, 300A Outlet Pointe Boulevard, Columbia, SC 29210.  Computer, phone,
and access to printers, copiers, and fax will be provided.



*ASSUMPTIONS & DEPENDENCIES*

Access to South Carolina Department of Revenue management, SCDOR resources
and IT services.



*SKILLS PREFERRED:*

*Highly Preferred           *

-        Current industry certifications such as Microsoft, Security,
VMware, Brocade, Cisco, CCNP or more advanced

-        BA, PM, QA certifications & experience

-        Experience and working knowledge of backup products and
methodologies.

-        Ability to craft proactive and automated scripts and tools

-        Knowledge of Virtual Machine operation, strengths, and weaknesses.

-        Experience with VMware ESX administration

-        Experience with firewalls, web filters

-        Support of web-based applications for internal (intranet) sites
and external (Internet) sites.

-        Knowledge of software development lifecycles and migrations from
different environments, such as development, production, etc…

-        Expert on Windows Server 2008, Sharepoint 2010, Project 2010, SCCM
2012

-        Expert with Active Directory administration

-        Hands-on technical knowledge of network and server operating
systems

-        Working technical knowledge of current network hardware,
protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP/IP, and DNS, DHCP.

-        Experience in developing and maintaining documentation for
policies, procedures, and best practices.

-        Extensive working knowledge of Internet protocols, tools and
techniques including but not limited to:

·         Internet Information Server,

·         Server operating systems installation and configuration,

·         Internet security,

·         Virtual Private Networking (VPN),

·         TCP/IP, Local Area Networks (LAN),

·         Wide Area Networks (WAN),



*Preferred            *

-        Dell Equipment, Dell SANS, SANs

-        Microsoft Office 2010

-        Sharepoint 2010, Project 2010

-        Experience with Projects operating under PMI methodology



*Skills: *TCP/IP, and DNS, DHCP.
