In-depth query performance tuning – detailed understanding of the query
optimizer, execution plans, plan cache, cost estimation, indexes, and
statistics

Extensive knowledge and troubleshooting skills with SQL Server replication

Expert knowledge with log shipping, mirroring, and Always On Availability
Groups

Strong working knowledge SAN/storage, hardware, and network components used

Job Description:





Act as the technical lead on mid to large size Big Data projects

Configuration of Hadoop options for best cluster performance

NameNode Federation and High Availability configurations

Hadoop security configurations

Data loading techniques using Flume and/or Sqoop

HBase configuration and management

Configuration and management of Cassandra (DataStax) clusters

Use of NodeTool and OpsCenter to manage Cassandra clusters

Cassandra performance tuning

Participates in the on call rotation schedule, which includes after hours
and 24x7 support.

Interfaces with application owners and engineers to resolve advanced
technical issues.

Participates in the incident and event escalation process.

Participates in the problem management.

Develop and conduct health checks on new and existing systems.

Utilizes monitoring and troubleshooting tools to restore service.

Participates with root cause analysis by gathering and reviewing pertinent
logs and collaborating with peers and management.

Develops and maintains standards for implementation, maintenance, and
optimization.

Reviews performance and capacity planning reports and makes recommendations
