Also, please do not hesitate to forward this information to any colleagues or friends who may be interested and have the desired skill set. * Job Description:* Under moderate supervision, designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements moderately complex operating systems components, software tools, and utilities required for the operation, maintenance, and control of computer systems. Makes moderately complex modifications to existing software to fit specialized needs and configurations, and maintains program libraries and technical documentation. Assists in planning, scheduling and implementation. Initiates corrective action to stay on schedule. *Additional Info:* The client needs someone who is very strong in Linux and automation/scripting. Any market data application experience (Reuters or NYSE/Wombat) would also be a plus. Puppet experience would also be a plus. The Systems Engineer is responsible for contributing operating system (Red Hat Linux/CentOS), hardware, automation, and application expertise to the centralized market data distribution environment. • Provide escalated systems and application support in a high availability, 7x24x365 environment. • Work with vendors and internal staff to install and integrate third-party and internally developed applications. • Automate day-to-day procedures and provide application training, monitoring tools, and documentation for turnover to operational staff.
