WE WILL HIRE THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR FULL TIME IF THEY PERFORM WELL.* The Quality Assurance Manager manages the effective use of quality assurance resources and practices to support testing of application development solutions across markets in Business Insurance. Partners with business customers, Business Analysts, Application Development, and the Project Management Office communities in reviewing business requirements and design considerations to develop and oversee QA practices. Plans at an operational level and manages the effective use of resources. Leads assigned staff to implement and/or maintain a medium system or multiple smaller systems and/or assigned project(s). Primary Duties and Responsibilities * Manages to the operational plan for assigned information systems and/or projects of business unit significance. * Understands testing efforts estimation and planning. * Experience in managing multiple test environments to support various test levels, e.g., System Integration Test, End-to-End Test, and User Acceptance Test. * Create a roadmap of testing activities and provide oversight * Coordinate and provide direction for QA assignments and activities across multiple applications and project initiatives. * Develop collaborative working relationships throughout the organization to accomplish mutual goals * Accountable for directing staff to achieve deliverables and goals * Motivate team (offshore and onshore) through positive attitude, effective communications, and challenging and stretched assignments * Support audit and other organizational activities and provides accurate and timely information regarding the performance of assigned systems. * Assemble teams of Quality Assurance personnel based on project scope and needs * Participate throughout the development life cycle providing Quality Assurance accountability in all phases * Oversee and participate in delivery and execution of quality assurance artifacts that validate the requirements of the business are met. * Assist in the collection of information necessary for the prioritization of projects and enhancements * Participate in the development and own maintenance of annual budget and concurrent resource forecasting * Effectively develop and refine processes and procedures utilized by the organization to deliver accurate timely and cost effective solutions * Acts as a project test lead or QA lead for one or multiple projects or portfolio. Qualifications * Minimum 5 -10 years of leadership experience in QA; P&C Insurance a plus * Experience managing offshore consulting resources effectively * Strong test methodology/process knowledge a must * Strong team orientation with a proven record of motivating staff * Strong data analysis Market, Technology, and Management * Has a thorough understanding of the business that the assigned projects are supporting. * Uses this understanding of the business and systems environment to develop appropriate and timely solutions to daily issues. * Has conceptual knowledge of varying technologies and/or application development and the ability to make decisions based on that knowledge. * Has strong working knowledge of how and when to use efficiency tools to automate test execution. Tools Microsoft Project and Office, very strong in Power Point presentation and Excel spreadsheet, Visio a plus. HP Quality Center or equivalent Testing tool. Understands automation tools such as HP QTP (Quick Test Pro). Business Knowledge & Partnership Is able to accurately assess and understand customer needs and work with a sense of urgency to satisfy those needs within negotiated timeframes. Effectively communicates (verbal, written and presentation ability) with peers and all levels of management. Ensures that reports are precise, timely and accurate Problem Solving & Decision Making Skills * Demonstrates sound analytical and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are not readily defined and/or conflict with available information. * Knows where to obtain information needed to make the appropriate decisions. * Breaks a problem down to manageable pieces and implements effective, timely solutions. * Is very good at identifying the problem versus the symptom.
