*Build Environments*
Sharpening your solid experience in setting up Linux systems, you’ll build
environments for both applications development and production, primarily
using the LAMP stack, often in virtualized environments.
*DESIRED SKILLS*
*Systems Administration*
- Administer one or more major Linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu,
RedHat most commonly)
- Install and regularly patch OS
- Manage user accounts and permissions
- Configure local and network file sharing
- Monitor security logs
- Monitor critical resource usage: RAM, CPU, disk
- Create and maintain virtualized development environments
- Install and configure LAMP stack for application development
- o Linux: see above
o Apache
- Configure logging
- Manage SSL certs
- Configure, enable and disable modules as needed
- Manage rewrite rules as needed
o MySQL (typically, though Postgres may also be encountered)
- Install, configure and maintain MySQL
- Manage database backups
- Manage logging as needed, for example, logging slow queries
