We have a client need for a Unix/Linux Admin for a 2-3month project (probable extension). The client is located in the Raleigh, NC. The Unix Systems Administrator's role is to provide a single point of contact for resolving technical problems with Solaris and Red Hat Linux servers. The responsibilities include the following: Installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all UNIX /Linux server hardware, operating system, and software to ensure optimal performance. Optimize servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning operating systems and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner. Administer and maintain Fiber Channel network(s) for Server, SAN, and backup hardware connections, corporate backups and storage systems (NetApp). Summary of Qualifications: BS/BA in Computer Science/MIS, related field or 4+ years relevant experience 3+ years experience with UNIX and Linux administration 3+ years experience in supporting UNIX and Windows DNS/DHCP environments, experience with NIS, NIS+, and LDAP environments Ability to keep up with hardware and software industry trends/new products IT related technical certifications a plus, Net+, UNIX and/or Linux administration certification, OEM certifications (Dell, Compaq, HP, etc.) Strong understanding of running secure networks, hardening servers, implementing and monitoring performance measures Strong knowledge of shell scripts, Perl. Summary: Location: Raleigh Duration: 2-3 months with probable extension. Start: ASAP through 7/1 Compensation: All inclusive rate (hourly) Client prefers local or regional resources (Southeast, mid Atlantic) or consultants who would relocate to the area.
