Location: Eden Prairie, MN Duration: Through end of year (potential for extension into 2014) Title: Senior Ruby on Rails Developer/Architect (ideally someone who’s functional, but has a good understanding around architecture and design and can help assist in reworking the roadmap for the existing solution) Top Three Skills: 1. Ruby on Rails experience (expert level) 2. Web Application Development experience 3. Architecture/Design experience 4. Ability to provide guidance to other internal resources involved, so that they understand the constraints and considerations that would be incorporated into the timeline and schedule. Job Description: Description of Service: Provide roadmap and architectural guidance as well as technical direction and code reengineering to expand an existing Ruby on Rails solution to meet existing and upcoming business needs. Project information: When CHR acquired Timco, they had a solution created that satisfies a portion of their Grower Accounting business in that it captures customer demand and plans out planting and harvesting plans to meet expected demands. This is a web-based solution that was built by a freelance consultant that worked with business leaders at Timco prior to the acquisition. The solution was built to ONLY work with the melon commodity. CHR needs to build it out to support additional commodities and make it “generic” enough to support additional commodities in the future. The consultant who built it will need some guidance from an architectural perspective as well as for scope; he can be very much a “yes” man. Additional Information: CHR is in need of someone who can develop but also has some architectural insight to make sure what’s being built out is extendable (if needed in the near future) and is generic enough to support additional commodities. Work Environment: CHR prides themselves on fostering an open/collaborative environment. The right consultant for the job will need to be an effective communicator and have a willingness to work with various stakeholders in order to produce a quality business outcome. Interview Information: Two-part process. 1st will be technical over the phone with the Manager (30-45 minutes in length). 2nd would be an in-person to come in and meet with the manager. Who is the Internal/External Customer: Internal: various business users of the application. External: customers that buy produce Impact to the Internal/External Customer: By rewriting this solution to cover other commodities rather than just the melon category, CHR will be better equipped to support planting and harvesting plans based on expected demands.
