*Job Title:* SQL SERVER DBA and Developer *Duration: 12 Months* *Location:* Worcester, MA ***Need locals with in-person interview available.* *Job Description:* Seeking SQL Server database analyst with experience in supporting heavy-transaction-volume, enterprise-level solutions with clustered databases preferably SQL Sever 2008. The successful candidate will be capable of supporting a large scale, state-wide database. Skills / Attributes Required - In-depth Experience of more than 5 years in managing multiple MS SQL 2000, 2005 SQL 2008 & SQL 2012 on large systems. Uptodate knowledge of SQL Server 2008 is a plus. - Strong practical experience desired in following areas: - SQL Database Upgrades. - Knowledge of Pro-active SQL Database monitoring scripts and automation. - Independent SQL Database Performance tuning and troubleshooting. - Blocking Monitoring and Index Maintenance - Clustering, Log-shipping, Database Mirroring, Database Snapshots, Data Partitioning. - T-SQL Programming code Review and Server side Traces. - Transactional / Merge Replication - Ongoing production support and ability to provide solutions to developer teams in areas of - Database Design, Security and Development - SQL Server Integration Services and DTS Script Migrations (ETL) - Reporting Services - Analysis Services and - Database Capacity Planning. - Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects - Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service. - Practical experience in managing the internal and external MS SQL database security. - Strong communication skills. Ability to take-up new challenges and deliver innovative solutions - Oracle and Multi RDBMS skills are a plus. Job Responsibilities: - To provide database application life cycle support including database design, development, implementation, and support in the development and production environments. Also to provide recommendations and solutions on database and application architecture, database integrity, security and availability as well as application tuning support. - Implement code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle - Ensuring High Availability by Setting-up Disaster Recovery through Clustering, Advanced Replication/Log-Shipping depending on criticality of application. - Proactive Database Monitoring thru DBA jobs which send alarm notifications. - Setup and maintain documentation and standards - Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures - SQL Server security management - By implementing and maintaining database and data security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) - Co-ordinate and plan the DBA activities with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators. To gain a sound understanding of the business or project requirements for better Database administration. - Evaluate SQL Server features and SQL Server related products - Plan Database growth and changes (capacity planning) - Perform database tuning and performance monitoring - Database Refreshes, Database Upgradations/Migrations - Blocking monitoring, Space Monitoring, Index Maintenance - Ensuring Data Integrity , Database Auditing and Masking - Ensuring SQL Server Instance Security thru updated security checklists and Regular Patching - Strong practical experience on implementing Backup/Recovery and High Availability solutions using Clustering, Database Mirroring, Log shipping and Database Replication. - Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams - Configuration and upgrading of SQL Server software and related products. - To provide strategic database direction for Database related projects.
