What are the responsibilities of this individual? - Analyzes business requirements, functional specifications, and source to target mapping as a guide to data modeling. - Understands, defines and structures how data relates to business operations and capabilities through an enterprise data model (conceptual model). - Chooses a suitable data modeling approach for each project, such as by assessing the suitability of existing data models. - Builds data models with the flexibility to change when business requirements change. - Reconciles multiple logical source models into a single, logically consistent model. - Ensures the proposed model follows data architecture guidelines and best practices. - Rationalizes the relationships expressed in the logical data model to the schema of the physical data store (that is, database tables and columns). - Development of data modeling best practices, guidelines and standards. - Fosters an environment of continuous improvement. Constantly exploring ways to increase efficiencies and productivity, reducing waste, and reducing costs. Acts professionally at all times and encourages professional standards among team members. - Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures. - Regular reliable attendance is expected and required - Performs other functions as assigned by management. 1. What does a typical day look like? - Typically, the data modeler is working with a Data Architect and project teams to understand the desired logical data design. - They then create the logical and physical models in Erwin. - The Data Modeler also will create and modify PL-SQL DDL to create the designed data structures. *Additional Notes* - 2 resources needed; - Location flexible, must be able to travel to Rochester or Syracuse though - Projects: Maintain back-end FACETS reporting system & Enterprise DataWarehouse - Take designs done by data architects and model them into Erwin tool - Models used to create physical tables - MUST know SQL (code is PL/SQL within Oracle environment) - Insurance industry experience is preferred; anyone with really strong data modeling is fine - Prefer in-person interviews with 2 to 3 people from architecture team - Must have strong communication skills - Can have Erwin or Embarcadero tool experience - *Must have skills: Enterprise DW, PL/SQL, SQL, Erwin or Embarcadero tools* -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SAP-UK" group.
