Title: Teradata DBA Contract Duration: 1 year Location: Houston, Texas Minimum Requirements: • Experience of 8 + years in designing and developing DB solution using Teradata • In depth knowledge & hands on experience in managing Teradata DB of size varying from 100 – 200 TB • Experience in designing large data warehouses, design patterns and reporting cubes. • Knowledge of Erwin Tool – LDM to PDM • Teradata Viewpoint 14+ version – monitoring and administration. • TASM- Work Load Management • Teradata Unity Director • Teradata Data Mover • Backup Recovery – net vault, Teradata gui, arc main • Teradata Tools: Tset ,visual explain,index wizard, stats wizard • Knowledge of limitations in Teradata and should be able to propose workarounds/alternate solutions • Knowledge of ETL tool such as SSIS or Data stage. • Working knowledge of UNIX and Shell scripting. • Should be hands on in writing Teradata SQL, stored procedures. • In depth knowledge of data warehousing concepts (DIMENSIONS vs. FACTS, Why Extract Transform & Load?, Star vs. Snowflake schema) • In depth knowledge of Teradata tools & utilities (for table & data migration such as Mload, FastLoad, FastExport etc.) • Hands on experience on Teradata Aster data discovery platform and AJI. • In depth knowledge of security administration in Teradata such as LDAP integration. • In depth experience of performance tuning & optimization in Teradata db. (Like ensuring setting of UPI & NUP, take corrective action using Query Plan etc.) • Knowledge of Teradata best practices . • Should be able to create a POV in how best we can manage prod & non prod Teradata environments. • Good communication skills (written & verbal) and be able to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical clients. Desired Skills:- • Energy Commodity Trading/Refinery Supply Chain Optimization experience. • Exposure to data discovery platforms (Oracle Endeca or QlikView or Spotfire etc.) • Exposure to other Bid Data platforms such as Hadoop, Oracle Exadata. Teradata DBA Roles & Responsibilities – Main duties and responsibilities: • Operational and Application DBA • Design and Develop data warehouse data model and provide support as necessary to create inbound/outbound interfaces to Teradata using ETL tool such as SSIS/Datastage. • Code Reviews and Ensuring Teradata best practices are being followed. • Justify the technical design and estimates to clients/technical architects. • Estimate and Plan for given set of business requirements. • Collaborate with India Teradata COE team and help them create point of views/proof of concepts on how Teradata can be used to solve business problems in addition to conducting brownbag sessions. Grow our Teradata Center of Excellence via brown bags/proof of concepts.
