*Position:  Linux System Engineer  *

*Location: St. Louis, MO*

*Duration: 6 months*



Rate is $45 to $50 max


*Position summary:*

The main purpose of this position is to provide  technical support for all
business and IT sponsored projects. This includes the configuration,
management, and support for the Linux Server environment and related
hardware and software.



*Essential functions:  *

·         Perform advanced engineering and administration duties required
to maintain the Red Hat Linux environment. (30%).

·         Provide technical expertise and perform tasks for all related
infrastructure projects, including business continuity and disaster
recovery. (25%)

·         Work closely with business and Information Security associates,
and outside vendors to effectively design, plan, and execute Red Hat Linux
environment additions and changes. (10%)

·         Continue technical knowledge improvement. (10%)

·         Provide advanced level expertise in the design and maintenance
required to ensure the high availability of the Red Hat Linux environment.
(10%)

·         Provide 24/7 support of the Red Hat Linux environment  including
after-hours maintenance and on-call duties. (10%)

·         Enforce, manage and create policies and procedures. (5%)

·         Perform other duties as assigned.



*Knowledge, skills and abilities required:*

·         Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Linux administration and tuning
concepts

·         Advanced knowledge of server hardware systems

·         Knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts, DNS, Postfix, Apache, and JBoss

·         Knowledge of configuration management tools, such as Puppet

·         Understanding of storage area networks and network attached
storage environments

·         Project management and documentation skills with strong attention
to detail.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication  skills with an
ablility to establish relationships and work across business units.

·         Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle
multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.

·         Ability to Engineer solutions within technical discipline.

·         Ability to work independently as well as within a team to support
complex service impacting issues.

·         Ability to mentor Analysts and Administrators to bridge technical
or professional skills gaps.

·         Ability to effectively lead  major project efforts as a
discipline resource.

·         Ability to provide and assist with technical evaluations, POCs
and/or technical recommendations within their discipline.

·         Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

·         Ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from peers or Management.

·         Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and work with
mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

·         Knowledge of security administration including secure
configuration based on server type.

·         Ability to rack 50 pound servers as needed.

·         Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

·         Foster company success through a professional appearance, being
courteous to customers and all client associates and by having a positive
attitude.



*Minimum education & experience:*

·         Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or related field, or
equivalent combination of education and experience required.

·         4+ years of technical experience in current Intel/Red Hat
Linux-based server design, configuration, management, troubleshooting and
support, including clustered environments, and directory/security/email
support and administration required.

·         Experience supporting geographically dispersed production
environments preferred.

·         Experience supporting HA and DR strategies preferred.

·         Experience with Virtualized Computing preferred.

·         RHCE certification preferred.
