*Need in person interview* *Client: State of NY* Cognos Developer HRA Category: Data Conversion,Oracle DB Services,Web Application Development OGS Category: Applications Development Mid Range OGS Class: Programmer Analyst III Projected Start Date: 9/1/2016 Projected End Date: 12/31/2017 Hours Per Day: 8 Location: 15 Metrotech Center, Brooklyn, NY 11201 Duties 1. Develop Cognos Business Intelligence strategy and specifications Tasks 1. Manage and direct the BI strategy crossing multiple data sources and business areas 2. Coordinate the efforts and provide direction for the BI developers 3. Facilitate the gathering, organization and prioritization of business requirements supporting the organizational analytics strategy. 4. Develop and maintain Cognos coding and designs Tasks 1. Create, modify and maintain Transformer models and cubes 2. Develop and maintain Framework Manager models and packages based on user needs 3. Produce reports and dashboards using Analysis Studio, Business Insight Advanced, and Report Studio, etc. 4. Provide overall administration, configuration, security, and maintenance for the BI environment inclusive of upgrades and vendor support. 5. Direct training, deployment and support of the BI tools. 6. Develop system documentation Tasks 1. Develop detailed systems and application operations designs. 2. Develop detailed application flows and environment details 3. Provide design approach summaries and benefits 4. Perform testing and evaluations Tasks 1. Monitor system utilization and performance. 2. Adhere to organizational change control methodology and documentation. 3. Work with Services departments and/or Cognos consulting partners to address network/hardware/installation issues that may arise. 4. Develop operational and installation BI procedures. Skills Mandatory Skill: Professional experience using Cognos BI tools Years of Experience: 3 Mandatory Skill: Database knowledge including Oracle, Netezza, and SQL Server Years of Experience: 3 Mandatory Skill: SQL query writing & optimization experience Years of Experience: 3 Mandatory Skill: Understanding of advanced report building techniques against data relational sources Years of Experience: 3 Mandatory Skill: Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences at various levels in the organization Years of Experience: 2 Desired Skill: Ability to develops positive relationships with user communities to better understand their needs, manage expectations and deliver value added actionable information.
