Position : DB2 DBA Location : Cranston, RI Duration : 12 Month Contract Job Description: Experience with Mainframe DB2 v8 and Datacom 11.2. Experience installing DB2 and Datacom, familiar with SMPE. Expert knowledge of z/OS. Experience with SAN storage systems Experience with Mainframe DB2 data sharing. Experience using database monitoring tools. Strong SQL skills. Ability to code and recompile packages and code functions and procedures preferred. Experience in tuning SQL code. Expertise in DB2 catalogs, recovery, fail-over methods and best practices. Clear understanding of RDBMS fundamentals and utilities (load/unload, reorg, image copy, etc.). Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures, and ability to write specifications for applications to be developed. Exceptional communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow clear methodologies for troubleshooting and development. Ability to support and work within standard software development life cycle practices. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Minimum 5 years experience with verifiable skills on Mainframe DB2 – certifications in recent releases preferred. Exceptional problem solving skills. Strong communication skills. Scripting languages and strong knowledge of IBM Mainframe operating environments. Banking or financial reporting experience helpful.
