Release Manager
Manage and coordinate software releases, define and uphold release
procedures, and provide *technical* expertise on company source control
applications. Implement and continuously improve the process used to
integrate, verify, release, and audit software installed in any environment.

* Administers multiple source control applications to coordinate scheduling,
integration, final certification, and release of all software
* Coordinates between various development departments and Change Management
to ensure changes and releases are smoothly integrated and meet required
validation levels
* Makes determination of software readiness for release
* Monitors progress against approved schedules and processes, and provides
day-to-day operational management of routine system issues
* Conducts post-release assessment and performs root cause analysis to
diagnose problems found during integration/final certification testing
* Defines requirements for, and assists in continuous improvements of, all
release related activity tools, processes and services
* Proactively identifies and implements procedures to automate release
process and notification of test failure problems
* Documents the status of releases and changes in the release process as
required

Responsibilities specific to this career ladder level:
* Actively defines, implements and reviews operational procedures and
ensures a customer service focus underpins all associated activities
* Negotiates with management to secure resources necessary to support and
complete release
* May coach and mentor other release management personnel on all aspects of
the release management responsibility

* Thorough *technical* knowledge of relevant core technologies
* Very good overall IT knowledge and awareness gained in a change and
release environment
* Typically possesses 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience
* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent
work experience
