One of the key responsibilities include the function to enable DevOps support by writing automation specs, procedures and tools in order to create fully automated deployments. There is also an internal element to the role involving the evangelization of application development teams and driving improvement in the way we service our platform through automation and repeatability. To enable the successful interaction with developers around their applications and environments, you will have or rapidly be able to develop a full understanding of our full product portfolio and be able to enable best practices which will be shared across the team. Secondary functions will be to provide training on your specs and configuration management best practices to other support engineers. Candidates must work well within a team environment, and have strong documentation skills. A strong work ethic and ability to provide on call 24x7x365 support is expected, though this is not a first-line support position. *Responsibilities* • Extend, design and develop the automated build and deployment process • Build and maintain a highly fault tolerant infrastructure on private/public cloud • Build cutting-edge automation tools to improve capacity and velocity for software engineers and production operations • Collaborate as part of an agile team, learning new skillsets as needed. • Collaborate with our development team to implement and evolve solutions for a wide array of challenging problems The Systems Operations Engineer will have a demonstrable, successful track record in a significant number of the following attributes: • WINDOWS/Active Directory/Sharepoint administration preferred • LINUX, DNS, Datadomain, Data protection administration experience required • Knowledge of Citrix platforms preferred • Linux administration (RHEL/OEL) must • Providing assistance to DEV and QA groups to include: participating in meetings, building out environments, troubleshooting deployment/configuration related problems • Ongoing maintenance of monitoring platforms • Creating and maintaining modules for a Config Management platform across multiple environments • Scripting ability (BASH, python, PHP) must • Implemented and supported user-facing, large-scale, secure tech stacks on AWS; familiar with OpsWorks, S3, EC2, Route53, VPC, Salt/Chef/Puppet config management • Experience using, managing, or performing automation activities around the EMC Federation Hybrid Cloud solution • Worked in a cloud based environment long enough to understand how to appropriately manage PaaS/IaaS/SaaS and Agile environments • This candidates prime role is going to be to automate enterprise shared services through coding… Ideally 70% of this person’s work will be doing development and could vary • The ideal candidate should love coding and should be ready to think automation • Knowledge of network architecture and troubleshooting • Working knowledge of databases and SQL (experience with database replication is a plus) • Experience with continuous integration in a highly available production environment is desirable • Ability to interface with internal customers in order to consult on requirements and discuss solutions • Can leverage a team of individuals with varying skill sets in order to devise a wholistic solution • Willing to throw your ego out the window in order to collaborate with a team and arrive at the best possible solution for the organization • Passionate about automating and improving release and deployment processes • A strategic and innovative mindset, can engineer technical solutions as well as perform process engineering • Understanding of virtualization concepts • Strong Linux administration experience • Ability to take vague requirements and apply vision and strategic direction in order to arrive at a final product • High level of attention to detail • 10+ years of relevant industry experience *Desired Technologies* (3-5 of these skills, in addition to Linux Administration required) • Linux administration and shell scripting • Jenkins • SVN/Git • Ansible • Apache • AWS/Azure/vCloud Air • Python/Perl/PHP/BASH • Chef/Puppet • EMC’s Federation Enterprise Hybrid Cloud solution experience Ideal candidate for this position • Will be determined and committed to perform at highest quality and excellence.
