*Collaboration Services Overview:*

The centralized Portal and Collaboration team is part of the shared
services organization under the Cardinal Health IT services umbrella.

This team supports over 30,000 associates across all of Cardinal’s business
units.

This job description addresses the roles and responsibilities of a
WebSphere Portal engineer.



*Essential Functions:*

Primary responsibility will be to help support and manage all aspects of
WebSphere Portal projects from conception through successful release.

We are looking for an engineer that has the ability to install, configure
and support our WebSphere Portal solutions.



*Primary Activities:*

• Implement systems architecture including fault tolerance and high
availability solutions.

• Work with application project teams to provide feedback on designs and
gather requirements for the application server environment.

• Install the Websphere Portal Application Server software on Linux, Unix
and Windows based environments.

• Create and Modify Websphere clusters required to implement the different
logical environments in the system development life cycle (dev, test,
stage, prod).

• Create and Configure application instances within each of the cells as
required.

• Configure Security as required (SSL, single sign-on,
administrative,application, etc…).

• Configure the required web server (IIS, iPlanet, Apache) with the
Application server software plug-in.

• Configure the Application server software to each individual
application’s requirements (Services Integration Bus – JMS / WebServices,
JDBC,Security, etc…)

• Set up the Application server software and each individual application to
be highly available with the goal of 24x7 up-time.

• Performance tunes the Application server software so that it is optimized
for each application. This will include working closely with the
application development teams to administer load testing and monitoring.

• Deploy applications to the Application server as well as define and set
up automated application deployment mechanisms.

• Provide development support to the application development teams.

• Research and troubleshoot problems related to the Application server
software, the applications that run on them as well as the external systems
that they interact with.

• Communicate regularly and effectively with other team members, clients
(application developers) and vendors (other technology teams).



*Secondary Activities*

• Implement policies, procedures, and standards

• Participate in various WebSphere related projects



*Education or Equivalent:*

Four year degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information
Systems, or equivalent and  5 years experience within IT or a Masters
within an IT discipline and 3 years experience



Specific skills required to successfully support a WebSphere Portal Shared
Services Organization:



• 2 years experience with JEE application servers

• Experience with administering WebSphere Application Server

• Experience with administering WebSphere Virtual Enterprise

• Operating Systems: Linux, Windows 2003, AIX

• Experience with WebSphere Portal, Commerce a plus

• Experience with WebSphere Sensor and Events (WSE) and WebSphere Business
Events (WBE) a plus.

• Experience with MQ, Message Broker a plus.

• JEE development skills a plus

• Good testing, technical and analytical skills

• Ability to multi-task

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong command of the system development life cycle.

Additional Beneficial Skills:

• IBM Lotus Web Content Management

• IBM Process Server

• Strong Understanding of Omniture, Web Trends a plus

• General Understanding of SAN technology

• General Understanding of DB2

• General Understanding of Networking technology

• General Understanding of Information Architecture and Taxonomy Strategies
