Responsibilities include troubleshooting and triaging problem reports from the testing process. The successful candidate will have a balance of skills and experience with design and testing of land based mobile embedded communications systems, hardware, firmware and software. Ability to build numerous automated test scripts for existing test harness using Ruby. *Major Duties:* - Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents. - Participate in a test automation tool selection process for an automated integration testing harness in a Java/Linux environment. - Develop and execute automated tests using the selected tool, which will likely require programming in C, Java, or some scripting language. - Integrate the test suites into the test management system and custom test harnesses. - Assist defining strategies for load and performance testing. - Test the product release as needed to support the target release schedule. - Analyze formal test results in order to discover, document and regress defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws. - Communicate test estimates, test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management. *Supervisory Requirements* A self starter who has ability to work independently, with little to no direction or support. Proven ability to actively support and work as a team player. *Authority and Responsibility* Has authority to make decisions within the scope of the tasks assigned as long as they conform to the guidelines of the department lead and managers. *Description of the Requirements for this Job (Knowledge, Skill, Education and Experience)* *Essential:* - A B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience - 5+years testing experience with at least 2 years as a Senior Test or Test Lead - Must have created automation for Linux based applications. - Agile SCRUM experience - Experience on at least 3 automation projects - Capable of running daily triage and interfacing with PM & Dev Leads - Senior Tester with previous ownership of a major software component or many medium components - Experience working with offshore resources - 3+ years of practical engineering experience testing Java and C/C++ based components in a Linux environment. - Strong debugging and problem solving skills - Strong knowledge of testing methodologies - 2+ years experience in writing scripts in Ruby - Understanding technical specifications and log file analysis. - Strong verbal, documentation, and interpersonal communication skills. - Experience interfacing with customers on previous projects - Able to successfully communicate technical concepts and information to the Team *Desirable* - Previous experience with agile development methodologies. - Agile LEAN experience - Working knowledge of HP Quality Center. - Previous experience with setting up or performing testing on complex test platforms. - Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems.
