| Duties & Responsibilites : | -This individual will be part of a software development engineering team responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, implementing, documenting, and supporting database related enhancements and fixes to a large application.
-The applications are critical, Tier 1 applications, and are used 24/7.
-This resource will also perform database application support and maintenance, participate in an on-call rotation, and perform activities such as analyzing database health through monitoring tools and supporting production database setup and configurations.
Major Duties
- Provide database/query development expertise for Network Monitoring platform for Comcast
- Interact with Project Manager Java Developers to understand requirements and scope the systems
- Partner with Java Developers to create PL/SQL, stored procedures, provide query tuning expertise, and performance tuning for both Oracle and MySQL environments
- Support Oracle and MySQL production environments through strong troubleshooting skills to narrow down database problems quickly in a high pressure situation
- Use tools such as AWR, ASH, and OEM to determine root cause of database issues
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Handle multiple tasks - ensure that tasks are being completed in timely manner with limited direction
- Participate in team meetings to discuss approaches to current projects
- Comply with all established procedures and policies of Comcast
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance

Minimum Requirements
-BS in Computer Science or equivalent
-2 – 5 years experience as PL/SQL Developer
-2 – 5 years experience in configuring and supporting an Oracle RAC environment
-2 + years experience with MySQL tuning, troubleshooting, and setup
-2 + years of experience Unix, Unix shell scripting and Perl
-1 – 2 years experience with database monitoring tools such as AWR, ASH, OEM
-Experience with Oracle DB setup activities such as Active Data Guard, Data Pump, Oracle Scheduler
-Strong understanding of SAN relationship to Oracle database
-Experience with high transaction volumes, high data through put
-Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
-Works well in a team environment
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills
REQUIRED SKILLS:
MySQL databases, Pentaho
PL/SQL, Unix Shell Scripting, Oracle RAC environment
Preferred Requirements:
· Experience with database replication technologies such as Oracle Streams and/or Golden Gate
· Experience with no-SQL databases
· Experience with Pentaho ETL framework
· Experience with UC4 job control and DB triggers
· Experience developing Network Monitoring applications
· Experience with high transaction/throughput processing in a highly available environment
· “Automate everything” mindset
· Strong interpersonal skills; capable of writing recommendations and interacting with company personnel on complex topics
· Demonstrated experience of participating on teams of technical experts in a diverse, fast-paced, 7 x 24 environments
